Why does ExpressJet advertise for "current and qualified ERJ pilots"?? Don't they have enough on furlough or is this a strike-breaking tactic?

I'm sitting on my rear now (my Legacy contract fell through...missed out on another job by 25 freakin' hours of instrument time can you believe it?). TSA hasn't called, Mesa hasn't called...no ERJ operator has called and I hate it where I am. I haven't tried them because I heard the interview is a royal screw job, but maybe Coex is the way to go. They hiring street Captains over there?

Maybe I should try Air Tran. 500 121 PIC is their min...

Why not? If you bothered to fillout the online app. you would see that it distinguishes both CRJ and ERJ flight experience. But no where does it say that it's a requirement.

All furloughs are back but Strike-breaking tactic? Who's on strike?

The interview is what you make of it. If you're looking for trouble then yes, you'll probably find something to complain about the interview. Drop the attitude and the process isn't what everyone makes out to be. Pilots seem to think that they're level of experience, whatever it may be, should part the heavens and wisk them straight to the right seat. Ain't going to happen. With thousands of applicants the sorting process takes time.

Are you serious? We've had FO's sitting in the right seat for 4 years waiting for the CAL flowbacks to leave. We're in no need of some off the street pilot to take the left seat. In fact, has there ever been a 121 jet operator that has hired off the street captains?

Trans States hired street captains pre 9/11 and as recently as 2003 hired CQFOs- Captain Qualified First Officers and mostly used them (and is probably still using them) as captains ahead of senior FOs who had the time for upgrade, but got the shaft. FOs with the time are just now finally being able to upgrade or at least get class dates after approximately 55 CQFOs were brought on property and allowed to fly as Captains. The contract had some language allowing CQFOs when no qualified FOs existed, but this was blatantly abused.
