Im driving past IAH and see an EMB 120 in COEX colors on final. OK I have heard that Skywest is flying them now, but did they go to the desert and pick the 120s out or did they paint Skywest 120s? Just curious, not looking to start a fight. I spent 5 years at COEX and enjoy my time there. Im just thinking it must be a little awkward in the crew room these days. My best to all you guys.

Half of the IAH planes are SkyWest EMB's in SkyWest colors, and the others are old COEX birds dusted off from the desert.

Slight differences bewtween the two: the COEX planes hava a different APU and do not have the extra cargo weight mod so apparently some bags have been left behind in the hot Houston sun when those planes roll down the ramp.

I can't imagine what those planes must have smelt like after they opened them up for the first time after eons in the desert...

From what I hear, you are correct in your assumption. I'm headed out there next month, we'll see ...

MKAY!! :D :D

I am in IAH right now and I commute on COEX and everybody has been extremely pleasant. None of the COEX guys go out of their way to say hello but who does? I can't get some Skywest guys to say hello in SLC. It is a great base, we just need to get all the bugs out of these COEX birds, years out in Roswell allow some intesting gremlins to appear.

Actually, the Skywest crews are not in our crew room. I do not even know if they have one in the northeast pod. Also, the old CALEX (not COEX) planes had the "Express" removed and "Connection" added. However, some of the gate agents still say, "Continental Express flight XXXX to Waco is now boarding."

As far as the flying itself goes, we are still a bit pissed. Not at the pilots, but at our own management.

Thanks for the sentiments as well. The contract is going fairly well. We hope to have the first TA by Christmas but I seriously doubt we will see it that soon. After all, we are going for such huge advances it will just take some time.

Also, if you want into the Express board (calforums.com) just email one of the moderators with your old employee number and they should let you in. Just remember that it is full disclosure, no anynimity (sp?).

Frats,

Thanks for all the answers. Best of luck on the contract.

I can remember going into the crew room when old Dave told up about the 145 et. al., and saying that express was going to be an all jet fleet. I remember somone asking, "well OK but what about waco cll bpt etc." "we can still do them with the jet," was the answer. I guess they were wrong.

Every CoEx pilot I've met at IAH has been great. I've been there since July 1st and nothing but good experience with all the crews. I jump on CoEx every week commuting to and from work and the pilots always go out of their way to make me feel welcome and they do everything they can to make sure I get a ride. We do the same at SkyWest with CoEx Jumpseaters almost daily on our flights. I'm glad that we respect eachother and direct any grudges towards management and not at working pilots.

Are you serving cokes and peanuts for Skywest too? :D Just joking...congratulations on finishing training....come stop by the crew room as soon as possible.
