Are swa pilots spending their own money on the iPad or are they receiving reimbursement?

You order it on your credit card, then bring the receipt in to the crew base coordinator. They will send it in for reimbursement. They will reimburse cost + tax.

SWA will provide a case and the cockpit mount. The cockpit mount will remain in the aircraft. They will also be providing a charging device that will stay in the cockpit as well.

Looking forward to the entire system being turned on. Time to get rid of the Jepp books.

I haven't used a paper jeep in 3 years. Who would have thought...

I think I have a dozen or more leather Jepp binders. Some were my fathers from his flying days, some from my airline days...I think mine still have the kit in them from when I was furloughed...They do look and smell nice though ;-)

Not much to do with them now.

They are great to use as binders for household notes and such, I use a few as car logs. Other than that, I couldn't give them away on cragslist, I gave them to a local FBO.

Muppet.

They don't do the same thing at half the price. They do some of the same things, at a third of the price, with holes you can drive a truck through and a useful life of six months. No, nobody cares if you could figure it out and write it for them, and it would be jail broken. The proven software is in place for the iPad .... now.

This is actually a smart, well considered decision.

Thank you dicko - well said

I got a gift from a mentor/father figure type- nice Scott leather engraved- would've lasted my career-

No way I can get rid of it, but can't think of one way to use it other than to remind me the pilot who gifted it

Use it. When we get rid of the Jepps there will again be a very nice place to set your Scott case, It will easily hold everything you need to carry with you i.e. iPad, flashlight, snacks, lunch cooler, books, personal laptop etc.

I might - but then id out myself online dragging that thing around:):)
Am looking forward to the extra space
