CVG will be gone after a NW/DL merger, so I would expect them to try to find flying elsewhere, and the pay rates are low enough now to compete for new flying. But, Pinnacle's MEM flying will also be looking for a new home too.

You know, you're probably right. I've seen how dead-on accurate all your other observations always are. ;)

Well, I predicted quite accurately that the Comair guys would get the shaft and a huge pay cut too, and I see the others will follow suit eventually. I said we would increase more INTL flying, and we have and will. I haven't done that bad. The NW/DL merger will come about eventually---maybe a year at most. Even Norman Mineta asked at a conference in China--- "wouldn't it be interesting if NW and DL emerged together from bankruptcy?" That was Gov't approval---right there.

On which part? The bidding on flying or CVG closing?

I guess you haven't seen the shrinking of CVG? We have less than 90 mainline flights a day now there, and our last bid had no new slots there. (every other base had new widebody openings) The writing is on the wall Texx.

I'll give you the Comair deal.....that was an obvious one. We all knew they were going to vote that crap in. They're 2 for 2 in that department now. It's also easy to predict the Int'l thing too, seeing how Big D announced publicly that they wanted to do that. The NW/DL merger i'm not so sure will happen.....if it does, I will concede that one to you. The first two in this paragraph were nothing more than obvious observations, IMHO.

You seem to be reveling in that fact, General, and its pretty unprofessional.

So DAL will be parking the thunder guppies and the mad dogs and NWA will park the -9s and -10s, leaving what, 738s, 756s, 77s, A319/320s and the A330? What do you predict Deltawest will acquire to replace that lift?

I found that I enjoy FlightInfo a great deal more without having to look at the mindless drivel from General Lee. Just add him to your ignore list. It cuts down on the amount of time it takes to look at a thread. Recently he had over 50 posts on a single thread.

To add anyone to yor ignore list is easy.

1. Click on their username on one their posts.
2. Scroll down to "View Public Profile" and click.
3. Toward the top right you'll see "Add GeneralLee to your ignore list"

5. And you're done!!!

If enough people don't respond to idiotic posts the posters eventually go away.

CMR will be bidding on Pinnacles' flying.

Its going to take a lot more than a little pay cut from the pilots to narrow the $600/block hour cost discrepancy that currently exists. I imagine the cuts from the pilots don't even equal a $50/hour savings.

Don't forget the money NWA makes subleasing airplanes to PCL.

Does anybody think these new Intl flight at Delta will last long?

Yes initially they will have some success. A year from now unless there is a merger then it may be doomsday for a whole lot of us.

Hopefully nothing.

There is too much frigging capacity now.

A MASSIVE reduction in capacity is needed or profitibility will never return.

Park 'em!

General,
Did you predict the demise of Song?

No, even though most of Song will be assimilated back into Delta mainline. (PTVs, newer entertainment, on most flights over 1700 miles). No, there are a lot of things I have been surprised at, but a Comair pay cut was NOT one of them. Management told us that we mainliners were going to get one, and the regional pilots will too. Bank on it. Comair was the first regional to, and there will be others. That is the way it will be. Song was a good idea that mainline had to emulate.

Care to elaborate on that? Is the Memphis hub being downsized at NW?

IF NW and DL merge, MEM is a little too close to ATL for comfort. I see MEM and CVG going away (CVG is too close to DTW). There will be some downsizing of hubs if they merge.

Say what? First of all, most of the INTL flights do well because the foreigners use their currency (like the Euro) to buy tickets on us. We are full of Europeans looking for good deals. The dollar is weak over there. And, if there is a merger, there would be a big shakeup, but the airlines flying around each surviving hub would probably be ok. Some hubs probably would go away. This is all speculation, of course....

Ummmmm, yes? We carry pax from other countries that use their own currency to buy our tickets, and we do well on cargo. We have taken excess domestic 767-300ERs and taken them off of money losing FLA runs, and will put them on Europe or South America. Taking those seats away from Florida will make it harder to catch a flight down to FLA, (less seats) which will allow us to raise fares a tad. It all helps.

I am glad Dave is "ignoring" me. He never could debate me, and he chose the "wheenie" way out. That's ok. I listen to everyone and I give my opinion. Some people can't take it, and that's too bad.

Yeah...like taking the MD11's out of storage to start the new Moscow service a few summers ago. What a rip!!

Your right, but Comair's renogiated lease rates on the 50s that are done, have gone from $100,000 month to $50,000, per the VP of Ops.
