So can someone tell me what the deal is with CMH's tsa screeners and the hate they have for NJA pilots? I just had a awesome 40 min tug and swab today when the ssss pax infront of me was grabbed and tickled for only 10min.

Someone poop in their luch box or something back in the day?

I've noticed this too as I am CMH based for my current company (start at NJA Oct 8). I don't get why they won't let NJA carry liquids through. Does this only happen in CMH or all airport security checkpoints? Are you not considered a crewmember in uniform?

The rumor is that the TSA lead at CMH used to work for NJA and didn't leave on good terms. Therefore he has it our for us. If you airline out of CMH, you are treated like an ordinary passenger whether you are in uniform or not. Do not expect to get your toothpaste through unless it meets the 3-1-1 rule.

Congrats on the hire. Acutally most airports are really cool to us. They always say how stupid it is to secondary the frac guys. LIT will just sign you off with no taint tickle. CMH just seems to go above and beyond to make life as hard as possible for that 30ft of GED Nazi playground.

I personally don't because from my former airline life I learned there are 2 types of baggage. Carry on and lost.
Its not hard to put a weeks worth in a stealth bag. Just learn the magic of the "roll up" technique

I've heard a lot of guys just check their bag when airlining. Do you suggest doing that?

I always check my bag at CMH. Other airports, it is usually a carry on.

Don't expect any special treatment at CMH or HPN. We're just citizens to TSA at those locations. Pull you liquids, take off your shoes and be thankful for everywhere else.

NO, just go TSA compliant and go on your merry way. Unless you need the extra big bottle of hair gel it shouldn't be that hard.

That way you are ready for whatever they throw at you.

Shaving cream, toothpaste, GermX, BenGay (too much running as a younger man), and sunblock (already had 2 skin cancers removed---learned my lesson). Doesn't exactly fit in a sandwich bag. Also had those losers at CMH deny the sandwich bag b/c it was not ZipLoc, but rather a string pull PROVIDED BY THE MWAA AIRPORT AUTHORITY.
Most airport are OK though.
