Everywhere else I've been I've never checked a bag, never had my water taken away, never had my shampoo confiscated!

I didn't have time to go back to nwa to check my luggage so I gave in.

Anyone know where you can get the up-to-date of what's approved and not approved?

never the same
had fewer problems in uniform but it depends on the person doing the search, worst thing I saw "thrown away" was a full, new, sealed bottle of Johnny Walker Black label, almost made me cry

Yah, THAT would be terrible!

I went through CMH several weeks ago and the individual that did the search couldnt have been more rude. He took my overnight bag (in which there were some itmes that contained liquids) and literally just threw them on the table. That included my toothpaste and shampoo. The toothpaste was labeled as 6oz although I pointed out that half of it was gone but that wouldnt count as 3oz. Even if I had the toothpaste with me and there was nothing in the tube, they still would have taken it away as it says 6oz. Also, had I not been on a company ticket, I would have spoken to this individuals supervisor regarding his more then rude behavior. CMH also gave me a plastic bag to fit all my 3 oz liquids. Was at another security point in the NE, and the acceptable plastic bag size was considerably smaller than the approved plastic bag in CMH. At this particular airport, the TSA kid had to see what I had before even entering the line. Then when he saw the plastic bag that I had from CMH and he made me take all those contents out and replace them in the newly approved and much smaller plastic baggy.

The whole liquid/plastic bag thing is such a joke and waste of everyones time. It's almost comical watching the TSA kids raising their voices and asking who has a liquid of more than 3oz. The many have to pay for the actions of a very few.....unreal.

CMH...
In October: was allowed through with Carmex b/c it's "not a liquid"
In December: Carmex was removed by the guy doing secondary..."it's close enough to a liquid"

Also, TSA agent doing pat-down looks at my CMH badge asks "what's this badge mean?"
Me: "It's the same one you have"
TSA: "Yours is purple" (*airside badge*)
Me: "Oh, that means I'm only allowed to be out by the planes, not inside"
TSA:

No standards in CMH...I had my laptop with me and went through security the first time no problems. The flight delayed 4 hours. Since the line wasn't long, I stepped back out for a smoke. When I came back through, they gave me a hard time because I didn't have the laptop case opened for them. When I questioned it, they said it was mandatory that all laptop cases be opened every time for inspection no questions asked. I didn't ask why they hadn't done so the first time around. I'm not risking a full cavity check to be a smarta55.

Funny, another time I rolled through CMH checkpoint charlie and in one bag had a bottle of shampoo and in another had a another had my overnight stuff with toothpaste, chapstick etc. They didnt do a thing about my shampoo but checked all the stuff out in my other bag. I was kinda checking on them....theres just no rhyme or reason to these TSA kids.

CMH, HPN, ICT - Don't count on getting through without checking your bags.

I just came out of ICT over the weekend and they told me that they didn't need to check my bags for liquids and gels because I was in uniform. I got the same story from the TSA agents in ORD the next morning.

But I agree that CMH actually targets NJA crews.

Think about it. Most every airport sees us in uniforms and assumes we are Part 121 airline pilots and give us the "quick and easy". Now at CMH, they know that we are with NJs (non part 121 carrier) and so they treat us as a regular passenger, which is what we are. We travel on a airline ticket just like Uncle Jethro.
