We have a CL600 under maintenance, but we plan to fly it from Palomar, CA to Teterboro, NJ hopefully nonstop... Palomar has I believe 4800 ft runway.. with max fuel, and max gross weight, can we take off, and at what max temp limit?

This is for the CL600 experts out there.... sorry Lear driver here.. and I have no performance #s on the CL600... appreciate it, thanks.

BTW, I still insist on Dr. Hogly Wogly Tyler Texas Barbeque @ VanNuys... those California-Texans sure know how to make their BBQ...!

I don't have any hard numbers for you but I know the Challengers are runway hogs.... BFL's in the 6,000 ft range (at max weight) are not at all uncommon.

600's are runway hogs - 604's aren't.

I left my book in the 600 when we sold it so I can't help with actual numbers but I would say 'fat chance'. How high is Palomar? You say 'max fuel' and 'max weight' - two different situations in the 600. Do you have the Branson tanks or the smaller standard tank system?

If you're truly going out at MGTOW I'd say 4,800 is out of the question - like I said I don't have the numbers in front of me - that's just based on my experience with the airplane. I wouldn't want to do it. Some of the 600 numbers are 'optimistic' at best. How long is the flight? If you have the small tanks chances are good you're gonna have to stop anyway. MGTOW 600's don't go very high initially - it'll be several hours before you can get to the really fuel effcient altitudes.

Thanks for your opinions.... I personally don't think it will make it nonstop, however, I just needed to confirm if someone out there has the books for it... I won't have access to performance #s until next week, but of course, the boss wanted some advanced info I can pull out of my _ _ _.... lol Thanks again...:p

Some CL 600 numbers

Are you going from SDM to TEB? If so looks like that is about 2100nm. The 600 is certainly capable of that distance, but with 4800' of runway and the numbers off this web link

it'll be about a 5 hour flight at 2000#/hr plus required reserves. Total fuel load about 12K plus Op weight of 24K your at 36K, about 5K short of max takeoff weight, which requires about 6,000' according to this site. It'll be real close as to whether you can make it non-stop or not based on this crude method. Good luck. I'd like to know how it all works out.

In my experience the 600 will never make 2000 pounds per hour average fuel flow. I planned more like 3200 the first, 2500 the second, and 2000 thereafter(after being able to get to 390 and 410). Something else is that no doubt ATC will have you down early going into the NYC area so that'll increase your last hour fuel burn. I always targeted 2500 pounds as a nice very comfortable reserve - sometimes a little lower if the weather was good and there were mutliple divert fields close to the dest. - with the standard 14,000 pound fuel tanks it would be real real close - pray hard for some decent tailwinds.
