I'd have to agree with SCT. Diesel's numbers seem waaaay too low. Using about 13,000# max fuel, 1600# reserve and his fuel flows would give you a 9 hr range airplane. Which it ain't.
2500 first hour and then 2000 for each hour after. During the first hour you actually see a burn of about 2200-2300, but using 2500-2000 always works well.
I have flown the X for several years now, and never cruised at anything but max cruise. The exceptions are while in the tracks, or when you really need long range cruise performance.
I am just curious why you would fly at .82? Is it to extend the range?
Yeah doing a lot of long haul legs. Or full of pax going from bos to san during the winter. Probably out of a tour for brand X i end up doing 3 or 4 legs at .82.
You know how it is rather go non stop at slow than fullspeed and stop.
Yeah, I know that .82 is LRC. I just have never had to use it hardly at all. If I am traveling from east to west in the winter and battling strong headwinds I usually step climb later in the flight to save fuel.
152 i'm behind you i like to climb instead of going slow. I've had a couple of trips where I've had to climb and also do .82 Sad. Usually though I like to climb the fuel flow and let the speed settle where it wants to up high.
I know a guy that flies it from south america to miami quite a bit. Starts off at .82 climbst to 470 and then steps it up to 510. I think he was doing somewhere near 8hrs.
