Question for citation shares pilots. If I get a job there, will they
give me a few months to sell my house? I can not afford a rent and
a mortgage payment the first couple of years. If so, how long will they give
to sell? Our real estate market is in the pitts and may take 6 months or more.
Also, do they pay for moving expenses? Thanks.

Also, I've lived on the east coast and mid-west. Also, lived in Fl.
for a time. Liked all areas but especially the mid-west. Thinking of
Cleveland because of the lake and lots to do. Can someone recommend
a town in cleveland w/ good schools, near the lake and turn of the century
architecture?(for the wife) Thanks again.

Never gave much thought to texas. Little too far. Our whole family is
on the east coast. I've been talking with some friends and they say,
"Why the hell would you want to move to cleveland?" I say because of
the beautiful lake. What the hell do i know. Now, I'm thinking of boston.
We lived there years ago and we loved the white mountains in nh. Thanks.

Not clear what your situation is. CS won't even interview you if you don't live within 120 minutes of a domicile. If you do, and you get hired you can move to whatever domicile you want provided the address is legit and within two hours of a base.

Hey cobra. I interview with them in two weeks. I plan on moving but
my question is will they allow me to commute until i sell my home?

Hop,

I think CS will interview you and offer you a position but no training until ONCE you move into the 2 hr circle of whichever base you choose. Until you show them proof of residency (i.e. drivers liscence, utility bill, etc.) you will then be given a training date, however, it's better for that to happen sooner because the job offer is not an open ended invitation. If you're fortunate enough to be offered a position at CS, light a fire under your butt and git er done.

oh boy. i guess i'll have to get a crash pad until the house is sold.
I want this job real bad. Any other ideas on good places to live. I
think it is awesome that CS gives so many domicile choices. Also,
do you know if you can move to different domiciles throughout
your career?

Sorry to tell you that crashpads are NOT an option. You can move wherever you want whenever you want as long as you are <2hrs from the base. Maybe bite the bullet and beg, steal, and borrow to make the move happen asap.

bogie, thanks for all the info. I'm glad I'll be prepared when i go into
the interview. I have to be honest, when i read NO crash pads, I felt
like the kid in the movie, christmas story, OOOhhhhh Fuuuuudge....
Except he didn't say fudge and neither did I.

Oh well, I guess I can always get a cheap dump to rent until we sell
the house. It'll be a temporary setback for a great job. It sounds like
you really like working there. Everyone I talk to on the road that works at
CS, loves it. Do you happen to know if they pay any moving expenses?

It really is a GREAT place to work. They (management) treat you well here. Unfortunatly, you'll have to pay for your own moving expenses as well as your airline ticket and hotel for the interview.

I made all the travel arrangements myself. No biggie.
And I should own stock in U-haul by now. Thanks again for
all the info. Any other suggestions you may have for the
interview or any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks bogie. I'll do my best.

Also, looking to hear from those who love where they live and why. If I get
the job I've got to find a place right away and we still don't know where we
want to live. We love the water and mountains. Anyone live near greensboro and what's it like? Also, Maine seems cool but is it tooo coool?

One thing you may want to consider when choosing a domicile is who flies in and out of there (i.e., air carrier). Second, try to choose a base where it is more likely you will only have one flight leg in and out from home to assignment and then back home. Greensboro, may not be a bad choice because there will be times you will pick an aircraft up from GSO due to Cessna having a maintenance facility there.

Good luck

Being a Mainiac....I'll tell you to move to New Hampshire. Its closer to Boston and their is no state income tax. Maine hits us for 8.5% State income tax and we really don't get anything for it.

New Hampshire has higher property taxes but in the end you'll make out better there.

I kind of consider Maine the Mississippi of New England.

pilots have a serious misconception of what a GREAT place to work is.

Ever hear of "relocation"?

"Yeah, its a great place to work" but you gotta pay for your airline ticket and hotel for the interview.

:0 Yeah, I know it stinks that I've got to pay for my own airline ticket, etc...
But if I get the job, it will be the BEST money I have ever spent. I'm looking
at it as an investment in our future. At least I can write it off for 2006 taxes.

Wolfie, you hold back way too much; you need to open up and tell us how
you really feel. You are way too shy. But I know one thing about you.

I know you like those BIG RED LETTERS, don't you wolfie.

Just a quick question for the Frac. Folks. On the schedules of 7 on, 7 off, On Avg. how many nights are spent away from domicile. Are you actually gone for 7 straight days, or are they all pretty much home at nights except for a few overnights? Might sound a little ignorant, I just dont have a clue how the fracs work. Thanks

You will be gone for all six nights. Period.

In >3.5 years I have had one day at home and one overnight at home.

When you are working you are gone. BUT when you are off, you are off.

Hope it helps.

Hey CS guys. I am gathering info for several friends trying to get started in this business. How are things at CS? Do you have to pay for your own hotel during training? How long? Upgrade times, and what kind of schedules 5 on and off etc.?

Thanks

So he produces a utility bill or drivers license, how are they going to know the status of the residence, crash pad or otherwise?

Be creative.

My poor cousin has been sensitive about his looks for a long time. It would not be a nice thing to do and bring up his appearance. Heck, not all our family can be as good looking as me, the patriarch of the tribe!
