Hey everyone:

Can you folks give me an idea of appropriate pay (daily rate) for a Citation Isp Captain/FO? These folks would be part-time.

Thanks for the input.

Gulfstreamlover:

Thanks, is that $250/day for an F/O on the high side, or normal? Does it include perdiem, or is that sepeate?

Doesn't include perdiam, they just pay for whatever you do (they even payed for us to go to the movies), I think it's about normal.

OK, another stupid question. Coming from a beseiged airline environment--is a day considered 8 hrs, 12, 16, 24 hrs? Is there an overtime rate? Flying past midnight, is that anohter day? Thanks again.

We go by calander days. Each calander day (Mon, Tues, ect) you get $250, no extra for overnights, no such thing as overtime, if you fly past midnight it's another day.

I've heard between $250-300 a day plus expenses. There aren't too many Part 91 operators that operate on per diem. As far as a duty day, it's all up to the operator. A 14-hour duty day isn't unusual. Some will push it so it all depends on how bad you want to fly for them. Some companies will fly several legs a day, others will depart at 0530LCL, go to XYZ and sit there until 1700LCL, then return home.

Overtime or after mid-night is all in how you negociated your rate. Some may go for paying extra, however, don't forget that your crewing one of the most popular light jets in the world and there are thousands of qualified pilots on the Citation. Search for "contract pilots" on the net and you might find more info on daily rates. As long as your resonable and how many pilots the company you're trying to contract with has available, you should be able to negociate a fair rate....just be realistic.

Remeber this as well, you are WORKING for them. If they provide meals for full time employees, they should also provide meals for you. They should pay all your associated expenses on the road (hotels, meals, etc.). However, getting them to pay for your movie tickets or cab fair to the pub or pay-per-view movies is pushing it IMHO.

Are you looking for contract pilots? If so, around Minneapolis, I normally can get $500 for PIC and $450 for SIC plus expenses.

$950/a day, plus expenses?? **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**. That's a lot of jack. Does this include overnights that you are not flying? A three day trip with legs on the first and last day, $2850.00 for crew expenses?

It would be my guess Flying Ace means they get $500 PIC OR $450 SIC, not combined.

As for your scenario of a three day trip. DEFINITELY! If you're gone a day or a week and only flying TO/FROM and spend the rest of the time sitting, you are on the clock!. I've had operators try to swindle out of paying during non-flying days. My argument is that I'm out of town, on a trip with them, therefore I'm working...flying or not. Thats always been the end of that argument. If someone short-changes me, thats the last time I fly with them and I'll freely spread the word on their practices to other contract pilots.

We're in this profession not only for the love of flying. We're making a living at it too!

Thanks a lot for everyones input....:D

2000flyer has got it right. But if you go and get two contract guys, you could be paying $950 for the crew/day; flying or not while you're on the road.

Love doing contract work!

What about King Air SIC?

I think I'm gonna hurl... ::eek: ...I need a raise.

Let me re-phrase that: PIC with another pilot. SIC required by the customer or Insurance...
