Chief Pilot Position based at SDF

I am no where near qualified but or those of you that are, there is a position as a Chief Pilot for Yum! posted on the company's web site. (www.yum.com).

They have three Challengers and I believe the fourth plane is a Falcon, but not positive.

They want 5000 TT.

Actually, they want 5,000 Transport Catagory Jet Time.

"Should have a minimum of 5,000 hours of transport category jet time.
Must have a minimum of 3,500 hours of Pilot-in-command time logged."

I'm curious...

While YUM! is a good company (I have a friend who works for their advertising department as an independant), I wonder why...

1. Have you noticed that YUM seems to be looking for pilot's on a fairly regular basis? This has to be the fifth or sixth ad this year (granted, the others were for their CA operation).

2. Why are they looking outside the company for a chief pilot? Are current employees being looked at for promotion and this is just an ad to cover legalities?

I am in no way trying to bash or be negative against YUM at all. It would be my guess that they are a good company to work for. Just some questions I'd be interested in if it were me looking for a position there.

I was kind of wondering the same things. Although I think the ad is probably more likely to be to cover legalities, but if it isn't it does make one wonder.

For what ever it is worth, Louisville and the surrounding area is a pretty good place to call home if you don't mind the UK fans.

Not uncommon at all for a company to seek someone on the outside for an upper level management position. And in many cases, this is a good way to go, for a variety of reasons.

when i say i'm a uk fan, i mean basketball. anyone that says they're a uk fan means basketball. the rest of the athletics aren't important.

Several years ago, probably about 6, Yum dumped just about the entire flight department in SDF. It was staffed with mostly with disgruntled Papa John's pilots who split. Pretty good coin though.

Papa Johns has a Citation X that John Schatter (founder and CEO) has some kind of fractional deal with Executive Jet. It is based at JVY. Also in that hanger is a Lear (I think a 24) that was John's. It is the same one that brought Rick Pitino to town when he became the head coach for the Cards.
