I can't believe I'm starting a thread. I'm actually a little nervous...

Anyway, I am in a dilemma and need some information about Chief Flight Instructor salaries - specifically what that job earns around the country. I've been offered a certain amount, accepted the terms, and now the offer has changed (they want to pay me less), after over a month on the job. Seems they didn't realize how much the check would actually be when it came time to write it.

I need some information to take with me into my meeting with the school owner, so if anybody here could direct me to a website or publication that contains that type of information I would appreciate it. Also, if you are or have been a Chief before and would be willing to share, that would be great.

BTW, I am the first to ever be offered this position at the school as they have decided to get a 141 program going. This was discussed at length before they actually offered me the job and I am the person who has put the program together, so I was the logical choice. I need to know if what they originally offered was enough as well. I know, don't flame me, I should have found that out before, but it's a relatively high number so I just assumed it was a fair offer (relatively meaning that it is more than I was making flying 135 charter).

Thanks for any information you can share!

Hi...

Here's a site that may be of some help....although I'm not certain how accurate it is. Nevertheless..good luck.

Salary Calculator

I knew I shoulda done the CFI ...

"A typical Flight Instructor working in Greensboro, NC 27406 earns a median base salary of $72,556, according to our analysis of data reported by corporate HR departments. Half of the people in this job earn between $66,705 and $81,687."

:D :D :D :D

Think about it- a flight instructor for a corporate flight department is likely a check airman, not a guy teaching touch and goes in a 172 like I was.

Howdy!

Sporty's Academy had zero applications for their CCFI position until they advertised the salary minimum as $80,000. That's in Ohio.

In California, the range is from $40,000 through $150,000. $40,000 at a small part 141 school. $150,000 as the CCFI at an international airline academy, plus travel bennies and full health coverage. I don't know what the local school offers, nor the foreign schools in Arizona.
