Any word on when Chicago Express is going to start interviewing? Also is there any word on more aircraft yet? A previous post mentioned some growth in the near future.
Does anyone know who (how?) to send a resume to? The website takes you directly to ATA's employment page. Does ATA hire for Chicago Express? Is there any Chicago Express pilots who would be willing to walk in a resume for me? I'm very interested in the company. Please PM me if you might be willing.
I sure hope they start hiring soon, it would be nice to get in an airplane again. I faxed them my resume today. I'll keep you updated on this thread if I hear anything back.
If you want information about the Eval contact George Stecyk at American Flyers - DPA. He is the guy to speak to. 800 323 0808.
You do a psych eval (listen to a tape and answer questions in a booklet). And then a simulator check - Frasca 141. The sim check is pretty straight forward but a lot of people come in early or the day before and get a bit of practice in first. I've seen some really low time pilots coming in for Evals lately. I'm talking 4-500hours.
A lot of American Flyers instructors end up at Chicago Express it seems. One guy is starting this month and said it sounds like hiring will continue steadily this year.
As far as i can tell a lot of the guys coming in have less than 100 ME time but they are interns or university grads. Other than that that last few instructors who got hired with them from American Flyers were fairly low multi time also.
It seems most of the way low time folks ie. 800 or less, and 100 or less multi are all interns. The average off the street person is about 1200+ hours, 100 multi... but there have always been exceptions to the rule. Don't hesitate to apply, you never know...
right now the current FOs are going to upgrade at around 24-28 months which is the highest i have seen it in 5 years. the average has been 18-24 months, i went in 14 and some went in less than 12 in the past. if we make a move for a new aircraft and the rumors are always there (clearly we are trying to work out a future aircraft but who knows... i think it will happen) then getting hired now you will easily upgrade in less than 2 years. if we don't get new airplanes (nearly impossible to conceive we won't in the next 18 months or LESS) then it might be longer...
reserve again varies... if you get in while the airline is expanding for a new aircraft you will spend very little time on reserve. if not expect 3-4 months.
I was kinda wondering if I could sit reserve about 60 miles away from MDW. I've never had it take more than 1.5 to get there. Is that 2 hours to the parking lot or check in? I know some companies do different things.
I guess, the big thing is, are they hiring now? When are the new hire classes?
I've got 2100TT, 600ME, 250 Turbine PIC, I know a SF340 Captain that would write me a LOR. Just looking for a descent place to work that has relatively quick upgrades (Don't want to go to Lakes for $15/hr). Sounds like ChicagoExpress is the place!
Do they still have a preferential agreement with ATA?
