I have heard that cherry is hiring. What's the political climate at
Cherry? What kind of landminds can you help the applicants and hire ons avoid? What is the work schedule comprised of? On the average how many corners on the FAR does the company ask a pilot to take? How much does a lear FO earn? When on the road what is per diem? Does the company ask you to pay and then trust them later for trip expenses? What does the uniform comprise of?

Thanks
Ben

Political climate? picture the Bill Clinton years.
Landminds? As many as you want and don't want.
Work Schedule? This week, hummm 11/3 ah I mean 21/7,

A friend of mine went from Reliant to Cherry Air (after our company went under)... he lasted about 2 weeks there before he ran screaming... in his words... " An incredibly unsafe operation! You wouldn't believe what they were asking me to do!" Meaning asking him to break all kinds of FARS and fly broke airplanes. This is second hand information, keep that in mind. However, i've never heard anything positive about this outfit.

Hehehehe! you guys caught it. I did that several times before, when posting the Merriam-Webster search results of a word that didn't exist. You guys are the first that caught it. It hides well, when all the other words listed, begin with F.

Cherry isnt exactly at the top of my "places to apply at" list. i know youre hunting turbine time...what about Martinaire?

I know who you are talking about! When I was there I flew with him. He was the one of the worst pilots Cherry ever tried to put on line. The guy didn't even know how to work a radar!!! He was hired to be a Captain, but couldn't cut it and never made it to Captain. He was told he had to be an FO untill his skills improved, he chose to quit rather than to learn. About your "FAR" comment. Consider the source! An FO who couldn't cut it!

Ok, getting back to the post though,

I've heard four different schedules, and different commitments and pay an all. As of today, can anyone share the current info? How about the contracts?

How does the 11/28 on work? Doesn't there have to be a day off after 7 days of work? Do pilots come back to ADS when they are done with the trip or do they stay out there for a period of time?

The compensation per mile, is that either "base pay or per mile", or is it additional to base pay? How about benefits? Time off, sick, vacation?

What kind of maintenance problems do people have there. I read the mx is not all that great... are we talking little problems, or bigger things?

Just trying to make an educated decision, if I get a call...

Thanks

We have a 11 on 3 off schedule. You usually stay out on the road after trips, "not always". I think the FO's make 18,000 base and 5 cents a mile. I don't remember what the contract is for the FO's.

The schedule changes from 11/3 to 21/7 depending on how many crews there are, or that's how it seems! Once upon a time when I worked there pay was $15,000/yr plus 5 cents per mile for FO's and $30,000/yr plus 7 cents per mile for CPT's. There was a one year training contract for the FO's and two years for the Captain. I remember being on the road for close to three weeks straight, so take your bills and stuff with you before you leave. It's one place to get some turbine time and move one as many of us did, but there are other places out there too! Hope it helps

Hey Squirreldog, how did that new engine starting procedure work out for you down in Mexico ? Still the company golden boy ?

Dunno!

Not sure of referrence and incident. Place is full of rumors and falsehoods. Much like certain identities that have only a few posts.

Also heard Cherry hired some more guys for the Falcon. Is this done by the pilots of just anyone who walks off the street can have a chance to get in.

keeping it real!

I don't know anything about Cherry, but I heard a rumor from a Lear Driver who had a bad starter on a lear 24 or 25, claimed to have preformed a high speed single engine taxi/ air start then turned around and took off the other way. I don't even know if this is possible, but over the coffee machine in GYY at 4am, it was entertaining.
