trying to find a place to log a few hours in a twin and take the ATP ride... just need to get it done quick preferably SoCal, texas, or oklahoma... so far ATP (the flight school) is the cheapest I have found at about 2400-2500 total with an examiner... can anyone beat that

Cheapest way would be to find a job where they have to type you, say at the fractionals or Ameriflight (with your Metro time). Then you get paid to get an ATP.

already there... couldn't get it done with the type because of my age...

can't send to many resumes out without it... just trying to move on now

Take it in a C-172, the cheapest way.

I just did mine in a Seminole at All ATP's in Bowling Green, KY. It was a 3 day course and totalled about $2350 and that included the examiners fee. The written exam was also included in the cost. Not cheap, but a quick and easy way to get it done. The DE they use there is a nice guy too.

ATP Cheap

I did mine in Grumman Tiger, cost $74. Of course that was 1978. A MEL ATP is expensive and it is easier to fail and it does very little for your employment opportunites. With a SEL the first time yop get a type rating it converts to a MEL ATP.

WTF? hope your kidding about the "doing little for you employment opportunities"

thanks anyways but like I said I'm already type rated

Not kidding at all.

No I was not kidding at all, now I got to put I have an ATP on my resume. At that time I have nearly 2000 hours of 100K+ 4 eng time in my log book. I don't need to prove to anyone I can fly ME airplanes. I have Comm. Type in the L-188. So with the SE ATP, I never had to take the written again, the check ride was much easier with no SE approaches, no SE misses, no power plant management. The MEL ATP has almost as limited commercial application as the SE ATP. The only place a ME ATP is needed is under Part 135 in a non-turbo jet A/C under 12,500 carrying more than 9 passengers. That is a rare bird. With a SE ATP, the first time you go for a PIC type rating in a ME airplane it automatically changes your AATP to a MEL. That is how I got my MEL ATP when I took my CE-550 61.58
