Hey guys...
I just finished renewing my CFI certificate using the American Flyers Internet CFI Lifetime Renewal Progam. I bought in two years ago at $100 (Now it's $125, I believe.) which gives me lifetime renewal privleges. It was a good deal for $100, but now that I've renewed my certificate for free it becomes an even better deal. As far as home study, cumputer based programs go it's not bad. Am I the only one out there that's using their program? If you're interested check out their website at www.americanflyer.net

yes, indeed. the american flyers renewel program is ideal for the busy, high frying airline pilot. i have not used it but that is what i plan to use when my time comes. other options are jeppeson renewel, cfi refresher courses or you could redo the checkride.

just my 2 cents

What exactly is a "high frying" airline pilot, "Mav"? One who has good burner time at McDonald's? One who has worked there longer than six months but hasn't been trained to close?

Better learn how to "fry," "Mav." That will likely be your next (non P-F-T) job after TAB.

I do want to provide a serious answer to the CFI renewal question. You can always take your instructor records and a completed 8710 to FSDO and renew based on activity. The only cost will be your time. I did that. Most FSDOs will give your courteous and professional service. Others, such as MCO, will subject you to a major interrogation.

If you know a fed with whom you are on good terms, the fed might renew you based on acquaintance. Nothing can be easier than that.

For (non-TAB) line pilots, if you have a completed 8710 ready, the POI who gives you your six-month checks might also renew your CFI if you approach him/her respectfully.

Hope that helps some more.

Yes I agree with bobby that MCO is he!! to get through. Those guys will put you through the ringer for eight hours straight.

Bobby, I have to renew also in October. Do you know anything about ATP's renewal?

Will I learn anything? If I am going to spend money (again) to renew I would like to get a brush-up on my knowledge and skills from another instructor, not just to get chewed by a FAA guy.

MCO CFI renewal

You know it. They didn't put me through an eight-hour ringer but the one woman ASI threatened to 609 me when I asked why she was asking what I thought were extremely unreasonable questions. She may as well have called me a liar. I renewed twice at SDL and was in and out in a matter of minutes. I was treated very courteously and professionally each time.

I sure don't. I'm sure others will

As a suggestion, and I'm entirely serious, could your Gulfstream POI renew you on activity? He/she might be someone who knows you and would be willing to help. Contrary to the MCO FSDO, which typifies the "I'm from the FAA; I'm here to help" "attitude."

Maybe you might receive better treatment in Tampa or Miami. Here's a link to FSDOs in the Florida area.

Good luck with your efforts.

This asumes you have the pass rate... I HAD the pass rate, but a 'prodigy' (cheap) student blew it 2 weeks before I renewed. He wanted to save money by NOT taking a final stage check WITH THE EXAMINER!

. . . . in your dreams. Being a TAB Express P-F-Ter will certainly get you there, along with your vast and demonstrated aviation and experience.

You certainly received a warm welcome to aviation from freight pilots on this thread. Or, as you put it, "fright" flying.

Why don't you just admit it? That you are really "TABExpress F/O," whom the moderator zapped? It's obvious.

Have some more Tab.

MAV- how are you a first officer? i didn't think that operation was up and running yet. anyway, i know the people that own that place. their swell. i'm sure you'll really enjoy the friendly atmosphere. yeah right. those people are thieves.

Lead Sled,

I assume you are either a current part 121 or 135 crew member if I read correctly into your profile, if which is the case then you also have another option available to you assuming that you are a captain.

Most all fsdo's will extend a "courtesy" to 121 and 135 qualified and current captains. All you need to do is fill out the 8710, bring your company photo id, medical, appropriate credentials, etc, etc, to your fsdo and they should renew you right on the spot.

Obviously not going to help you this time around but something to keep in mind for the next time.

I do not think that he is even at Tab, obviously his attitude and posting methods leaves for many doubts. I think he is getting his kicks my attempting to sell himself off to many on this board as someone that he is not. This appears to be nothing more than a "joke". There is never anything of substance or fact(s) that he posts so what gives? I think he is taking a few for a ride..-----
