Need to get my CFI renewed online!!!!

Which is better "American Flyers" or "Jeppessen"?

Anybody have any experience with either of them?
Also if someone has a contact number for either of them

Thanks ;)

Not sure about the price of Jepp, but the Flyers course is a pretty good deal. It's a lifetime membership for $100. I've done it for the last 3 renewals, and it's not too bad. The only thing is you have to spend a lot of time in front of the computer, because it times you. First time I did it, I breezed through the first chapter in about 10 minutes, then went out to mow my lawn, because I was required to spend something like 2 hours on that chapter. I thought that the timer would continue while I was outside, but when I got back, it had only gone to about 12 minutes and stopped.

Be prepared to sit down for a long time. Have another window open just so you have something to keep you occupied. Flightinfo, porn, etc.....

I've used them both. They both get the job done. Jeppessen is perhaps a little "cleaner", but with the American Flyers program you only have to pay once - after that you get free renewals for life. I'm on my 3rd or 4th renewal with them. Not bad for my original $100 investment. (They charge $125 now.)

You can sign up online at www.americanflyers.net and follow the links.

Gleim has no time requirements at all. When you finish a quiz, you're done, even if the module only takes 10 minutes :)

Second the recommendation fro Gleim's, you can cruise through at your own pace. Aside from the waste of I wouldn't be able to tolerate being tied to the computer for an arbitrary time period when I'd already finished the material. I don't care it it is free for a lifetime.

Definitely use Gleim. They can renew your certificate directly and mail it to you, saving you a trip to the FSDO.Josh M.

When I was just deciding which course to renew with last month, a buddy of mine pointed out the fact that while taking the test with Gleim, it's okay to leave the knowledge outline open in a separate window. With a <cntrl>F, it's pretty easy to find the answers quickly if you're not into reading/studying the entire outline.

Quick overview of the program: I think there's like 16 chapters. At the beginning of the chapter, you take a True/False "thought-provoking" quiz. Then the outline is available to "study". Following that, you take a 10 question quiz on the subjects covered in the outline. It's relatively painless and actually a very good review for a CFI who hasn't been actively instructing, like myself.
