I'm going in for a CFI interview tomorrow. I am not really sure what to expect since I have never done one before. It is part 61. Not sure if I am going to have to teach anything. Some of my friends said to have some questions ready to ask about their company. To show I have interest in working for them. Here are a few I have come up with. Anyone care to add their .02?

Tell me a back round of the company?
What is the size of the staff?
How many are full time instructors, part time instructors?
How long has the chief pilot been there?
Where do they get most of their business? Walk ins?
When are the slow times? Busy Times?

Good Luck, were all counting on you.:)

Those sound good actually. You might want to ask about their policies in general, and also their Philosophy about training. Kind of get an idea of what they emphasize.

Find out if you are paid just hobbs time or for ground time as well, I have heard of schools just paying for hobbs time only. Or others pay different for flight hours vs ground hours. Benefits?

Expect a check flight as well, so they can get a feel of how you approach teaching different maneuvers the interview just really depends on the place that you apply. Also check average student loads make sure that you dont have to pump gas to pay bills too.

Most importantly be friendly no one wants to hire a big headed CFI. Dont assume that you will know every question that they will ask, doesnt mean you wont get the job. Just be friendly and good luck

Just use common sense and be friendly. Those are probably the two biggest things that will get you hired. If they ask what you'd do if a door popped open and you say you'll have them roll the trucks, they're gonna look at you funny. Also, find out what they can do for you. Some flight schools can offer more to an instructor than others. Good luck.

 I got the job!! Place is called A & M aviation. Sounds like a nice tight family, 61 operations. They have a kick ass fleet as well. C310, C182, C172,C152,Eclipse C1, Katana A1, Aeronca Champ, Extreme Motor Glider,
Diamond Star DA40, Robinson R22,Helicopter, Web site is http://www.aandmaviation.com/. They also do some 135 stuff where I can fly the dead leg back and log some King Air turbine time. Only took me 2 weeks to the day to land a job after my CFI. Heck this was only the 2nd place I turned in my resume. I got pretty lucky.

I'm coming up on an interview at a small school as well. What did they cover? I'm sure it'll be different from the one I'll be interviewing at, but I'm just curious.
