They said the baggage door was open. Must have been reported by radio. The crash site looks like they put it straight in. Very sad.

Yeah, this is definitely sad. Van Nuys is where I'm learning to fly. On the news, some witnesses are saying they saw one of the pilots jump out before the crash, but who knows how accurate that is. I can't see that happening.

leave it up to the media to botch everything about an incident. remember when the media was waiting to get the black box back from the cirrus that flew into that building in NY.

but yes this is very tragic. the pilots told the tower they needed to return but did not declare an emergency.
