I get plenty of grief at school because my business cards and resumes list my title as "Certificated Flight Instructor". Most of my classmates believe that I am a "Certified" flight instructor.

I've had one DPE and several other instructors back me up on the certificated part. Does anybody have a regulatory citation or other evidence I can bring to bear with my classmates on this issue?

I'm determined to prove that their business cards are wrong with certified instead of certificated!

sounds like a good little marketing trick... someone just might remember you with that slightly different wording. Kind of like the diff between preventive and preventative. just fewer syllables.

I think the correct phrasing these days is just "Flight Instructor". The FARs refer to "Authorized Instructor" or holder of a "Flight Instructor Certificate", neither of which looks good on a business card.

Actually, under Part 141, it does refer to a "Certificated Flight Instructor" after all.

141.79 says "Certificated Flight Instructor" several times:)

Both certificated and practicable seem antiquitated to me.
quite a bit of aviation jargon could be considered antiquated. So long, good day... I think it's neat. reminds me of the good ol' days!
