hi

i am interested in joining cathay pacific as a direct entry first officer.

I was looking at the minimum requirements and it was saying:

A minimum of 1000 hours in one of the following categories:
  1. Airline Jet Transport
  2. Command Turbo Prop (MAUW greater than 20,000 Kgs)
  3. High Performance Military Jet
  4. Corporate Jet Command
what kind of time would be right seat in a regional in a CRJ 200?
does it mean you dont need PIC if you have been flying an airline transport jet?
or is it only applicable for bigger airline aircraft?

also they are asking for an ATP, but can it be an american ATP and does it need to be an ATP in a jet aircraft?

Thanks for your help

Um, Yeah...

I would try pprune.com and see if you would be competitve. There is some good info over there.

You are not competitive for DE FO. They are getting guys with over 10,000 total time, most of which is in 737 or bigger. They have a hired a few ex-military with less time ( Bjammin should be along soon to explain ), but that is the exception more than the rule.

You are starting to be competitive for Second Officer, which according to a recent thread, is around 3000 total time. There are a few threads on thsi subject, both here and on Pprune. Try the search function.

Cathay Pacific?

Also, for the benefit of some of the older pilots, be aware that CX does have an age limit !
Yes, folks, foreign airlines can discriminate according to age and you won't find that on the app nor will any HR rep tell you. But......if you do your homework and search their employment website, it will be conveniently hidden among the small print. I believe it's 45 for a DE F/O.
Will save you a lot of unnecessary work and heartache if you know that!
You will need to study hard for your technical interview as there is great emphasis on aerodynamics and operational issues as part of the selection process.
Good luck to all!
