I have a dumb question: Why does almost everyone speak of the Bahamas and the Caribbean in the same breath? As best I can tell the Bahamas are in the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean Sea and no part of the Bahamas touches the Caribbean. They are not really "Caribbean" Islands.

As far as where to go in the Caribbean that depends on what you're looking for. There is wide variety as well as much similarity. However, no two islands are really the same. Each has its own character.

excellent. Great info.

Depends whether you want busy nightlife or beautiful and peaceful.

St. Lucia is beautiful as is most of St Vincent & the Grenadines. Beautiful water, scuba, snorkeling, etc. A little further north, Saba has some great diving -- I'd skip St. Barfs.

This is the best advise for getting away, especially the smaller islands in the Grenadines. I spent three years moving a live-aboard motorsailer around the Caribbean during off times from work. This area is what I remember with a smile, when thinking about that time period.
