FedEx and UPS guys...

Anybody tried to get an airline discount at a Disney Resort lately? Called down yesterday, and was told only pax airlines get the airline employee discount. What a crock! I guess if ya fly for Cathay or NWA Cargo you don't count either. Anyway, I've written them a letter addressing the issue. Anybody else run into this?

Thanks

When's the last time you saw a line of boxes waiting to ride the Flying Dutchman?

Well, I usually don't use that slang, but...

I guess you missed the part where FedEx sponsored Space Mountain, huh?

What's the discount? Like 10%, or 50%?

Freight dawgs are just like the late and great Rodney Dangerfield

We don't get no respect.

All of the cargo ops (FED EX, UPS, DHL, etc,)are the ones still making the $$$. The discount applies to all PAX ops who have taken pay cuts, or the ones who pay jack $hit. We need the discount to afford these places. Probably not the real reason, but it is an educated guess.

The reason the pax carrier pilots get a discount is we bring the people. Trust me, I'd rather be at UPS/FEDEX right now than working the pax side and pay the difference. I can get 50% off in Hawaii; I just can't afford to go.

The reason for the discount isn't because pax airlines bring the pax or because pax employees have taken pay cuts, the reason is because we ALL get big discounts at major hotel chains because of the amount of money we spend with them. If Disney wants to be competitive with the "outside the park" chains, i.e. Marriott, Hilton, Embacy, et al, to airline employees, then they need to potentially offer an incentive to stay there instead of offsite.

As for the "we bring the pax" argument, that doesn't seem to fly, (no pun intended), because not all pax airlines fly to the Disney destinations. Furthermore, some airlines have both types of flying, so I guess at NWA Cargo or a Cathay Pacific cargo pilot wouldn't qualify while a pax pilot would. As a matter of fact, I don't think Cathay even goes into Orlando.

Really that was not the nature of my question though. I will just state it again for the record.....

"FedEx and UPS guys...

Maybe we could just stick to that one for the time being.

Thanks

P.S. Disney states a 50% discount at their resorts for airline employees. Enjoy.
