Is the cargo carriers facing the same retirement issues as the passenger carriers? Is there any idea of what numbers each cargo carrier is facing for actual retirements? And the foreign carriers have the same problem coming?

Thanks

Cargo careers

When getting hired by the cargo carriers (Foreign and US based) are they going to expect a college degree in something or some college? If you have the proper time logged, would that offset this?

Thanks

What issue exactly? There's lots of cargo companies and each one has varying seniority lists so it's not easy to answer such a broad question. What's the "problem coming"?
As a rough number, Fedex is probably retiring about 200/year once the age 65 kicks in. I don't think they see that as a "problem" if that's what you're referring to. It's not like there aren't a ton of qualified pilots out there to replace them.

Each company's hiring requirements are different. Fedex requires a 4 year degree - period. No amount of flight time logged will change that.

Thanks, thats what I was after. Whether or not there would be many cargo carriers having rule 65 cause much hiring? Thanks for answering the other question too.

Looks good to me. I guess your data is better than mine. 200/year was just a rough gouge.

51 in 2011, it goes over 100 a year after that. Yay!!!!!!!!
As far as a pilot shortage, the Experienced Pilot Act of 2007 fixed that. Its a full 12-15 year upgrade for me.

Thanks fokkers&beer. Do you have specific numbers for all the upcoming years? I'm trying to compile a spreadsheet of retirements at all the airlines. Thanks.

FedEx also requires you to attain time in one of their feeders: USAF, navy, marines and coast guard. Army pilots are on their own like civilians.
