I don't want to start a war, but I would like to ask the pilots at Cape Air / Nantucket Airlines why they are pursuing Union representation.

The airline industry is full of poorly run companies who most of the time put the employee last. For this and many other reasons, a union can sometimes bring order where there was once Kaos.

Cape Air is not one of these companies.

I have never seen a better example of a great airline that would most likely get worse by having a union negotiate for the pilot group?

I started this thread to find out why the Cape Air pilots are unhappy, not discuss Unions.

Wow, that's news to me. Always seemed that the folks at Cape Air were happy with their treatment by management.

If the company is already good to work for, then those guys are getting themselves into a big mess if they start a union.

I was living on the cape a while ago, Is Billy still running Nantucket? I never worked for him but he was a friend of a friend. First impression, I thought he was an ass.

Cape Air is run by Dan Wolf.

A very down to earth people person who listens to his employees.

Thats the guy I used to know anyway.

Unless Dan is wearing a black helmet and cape now and not being fair to the pilot group, I think the last piston twin regional airline may be surprized to see ithings get worse if they vote in the teamsters.

Spoke with a Tortola based Cape Air pilot today.

He said that the IBT told him he couldn't vote on wether to unionize the pilot group.

Turns out they knew he and other Tortola based pilots were "NO" votes, so the Teamsters made it so they couldn't vote.

That sucks...

IBT *NOT* voted in by Cape Air pilots

It is official: The IBT will **NOT** be representing Cape Air Flight Crew.

Vote percentage

I believe there were 72 eligible voters, and therefore the IBT needed 36 'yes' votes. Out of those 72 eligible votes, I think the number of 'yes' votes was 26 or 27.

I think the count was a lil less than 26 / 27 it was more like 21.....
better luck next time..... it is better without IBT, 9k pilots I heared are treated very well, but you always find an unhappy person or persons
