It's a go. I'm not to sure on the start date but one ATR is painted and in the hanger and the second is in the paint shop. There in the process of getting there 121 certificate and will have 4 ATR's on line.

Hi,

Can someone post some photos or provide a link to where I can find some of Cape Air's ATRs. I'm an avid modeller and I've been wanting to make a Cape Air ATR.

Thanks for any help.

try airliners.net
they have thousands of photos for your enjoyment.

Taxes in Guam

Does anyone know if you pay US Federal income Tax if you are working for a US based comapny in Guam? Are there local taxes in Guam? How much are these taxes. Any Continental guys out there that can answer this. Thanks in advance.

ACK AIR

Hello,
The quick answer to your question is, yes. Guam is a part of the Marianas Trust Territory and all the residents are citizens of the United States. So, if you want a tax-break you need to head for the desert and I don't mean Arizona:)

ackairpilot,
Just a little advice, if you do go to Guam and work there, save all your tax documents and proof of taxes paid. After I moved to the US from Guam, the IRS, in Atlanta, threatened to put a lean on my house and garnish my wages because they had no record of taxes paid. The San Francisco office of the IRS covers Guam. After a long battle, I was able to work out the problem, but if I didn't have all my paperwork, I would have had to pay. Cover your a$$ in paper.

Turboprob 402?

Just wondering if I was the only one who noticed the author of the article referring to the C-402 as a "turboprop"? Unless they have an STC and have upgraded them all...they are still piston twins..no?

W

No the article is correct

Cape Air modified all 50 of its 402s with Turboprop engines.

2150SHP Pratt and Whitney PW123Ds, to be exact. They look funny, but boy do they move. The landing gears have been extended by 12 feet to accommodate the 13' prop diameter.

Because of the added fuel flow demand, they had to remove one of the nine seats and add a 150 gallon hopper tank next to the pilot.

The planes set the new PVC-BOS record immeadiately upon entry into service by completing the trip in 4 minutes block to block.

Rumor has it, they plan on utillizing all 100 of the now removed TSIO-520-VBs by mounting about 20 per side to the new ATR. The remaining 60 will be mounted on colums protruding from the sandbars just off of great island to produce enough air to spin the wind turbines that will soon be installed in the Nantucket sound.

It was supposedly all done in an effort to help preserve the environment...

:D :D

The folks in the zillion dollar houses are already up in arms over the sight of the wind turbines, it would be funny to see how they'd like the sound of 60 piston engines/props whirring away in their backyard.

"Do you realize what that will do to my property value? Buffy is NOT amused!"

Thanks for the laugh, Otto.

I dunno guys i think u are all crazy, I flew Cape air this weekend DAB-TPA and TPA-DAB and they were stickin 100LL in it and it wasnt a turbo prop, and i looked on A.net and didnt see ne ATRs.

Whats the deal?

Matt

See what you have done Otto. I guess I did start it. :D

Ok..here goes.....

Didin't you know you can run 100LL for 150 hours in the turboprops?

Yea me

In my many years on the HYA ramp I never once saw a C402 with turbo props... also let us calculate the distance between the engine and the fuselage of the aircraft in a 402. The length of each wing on a 402 is what 15 feet? a 16 foot prop would be pretty hard to fit on there. I know some engineers that would love to see that. The max. for a 402 wingspan would be 20 feet, I think that's stretching it, I don't know the exact specs of the 402. Just putting a turbine engine on a 402 is like throwing a jet engine on a beech 1900... C model...

There is a reason there haven't been any pictures on airliners.net of the newly delivered ATRs is because the plane hasn't flown a lot. It hasn't done a passenger flight yet, at least not for cape air, the 7 or 8 other airlines that have painted the plane and called it their own, have flown a few passengers around. Cape Air still doesn't have a 121 ticket, they are only 135, and the ATR isn't on either. They bought the plane to try and acquire a 121 ticket with it, and its fellow brothers. For as long as I can remember cape air has been saying they were going to get bigger planes, originally it was the 320 shorts, but now they actually have some ATRs... good for them, they're a great little airline with some awesome employees, and right now they treat their pilots, and ground people very very well. Hopefully they can keep it that way, with any growth they incur.

Enough from me I've said my peace....

Hey Otto...you are an excellent fisherman. Two in the boat...one wiggled off the hook....one is a keeper!

Gate Girl...Beech is currently testing the 1900-J model with GE CF34 engines.
