Do any of the new pilot contracts at NetJets or other fractionals prevent pilots from flying part time or contract trips on their days off?

Not sure what a "new pilot contract" is, but to answer your question...No. NJ pilots, for now, can fly contract trips as long as they don't exceed flying time limitations.

Now for the real question...what to charge.

Thanks, I was referring to the new pilot contracts that the pilots union had worked out. I hoped they would allow contract flying on their days off still. We have a web site called www.flycontract.com and we would really like to be able to get more fractional pilots on the site. We have emailed one of the unions but have yet to get a call back. If I were to go to a fractional I would like to fly part time for my first year to help my pay.

The contract makes no mention of it. Current company policy is to allow it, provided it does "not interfere with eligibility to perform NJA duties in any way."

Keep in mind that could be changed at the company's discretion because it's outside the scope of the contract.

If it was our guys at NJA, then to say they have their hands full would be the understatement of the century. I'm sure it isn't personal, but I wouldn't expect a reply on it any time in the near future. ;)

Now that the first-year pay at NJ is $18K higher than it was six months ago, and CS and Flex are giving similar raises soon, it's probably not so critical anymore to do side work.

Spot on. My 5 on 3 off schedule under the old payscale (no matter how much I wanted to) at Flex prevented the idea. I hope it has changed.

Cheers- Rum

Since we are talking about contract work...

I have a question to put out there...

I was offering to do some contract work for a local charter operator and was told that new rules prevent using me for Part 135 trips - only 91 trips. I guess the new operational control issues require that each charter company that I do work for HAS to send me to school? Even if I just completed recurrent with my employer? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Terry,

Just to add to CA1900 at NJA, the flying can NOT be in competition with us. Along with that, and not interferring with our duties, we also need to get written permission from the DO or his designee. (Not hard to do).

I personally know a couple of our pilots who do contract work.
