I saw an opening for Grand Aire out of teledo Ohio? does anyone know anything good or bad about this company? Thanks

I know nothing about them, but I've heard many a horrible thing about them on this forum.

RED FLAG IS WAVING ONCE AGAIN. Once again Grande Aire/Tricoastal is double posting on climbto350.com. Look out fer your nuts. I was gonna apply with em a couple of months ago and then I read all the NTSB reports on them and the fact that they have to advertise under two different names just to get pilots because they had 11 crashes in 10 years and 12 FAA violations between 2001 and 2002. The people they hired two months ago musta figured things out and left and they have to rehire again.

Actually, Grand Aire / Tricoastal is fully staffed with pilots now, have been for quite a while. The new Director of Ops used to be a Fed, with the detroit FSDO, the Director of Maintenance used to be an assistant DM with Jet Blue, ALL of the pilots go to simuflight and SimCom for training not because they have to, but because the Chief Pilot decided that it was best, to operate an airline safely..

before you go out there and believe everything you hear on this post, take a minute and think about how true all of this is, and how much of the negative posts may be from disgruntled employees or people with a chip on their shoulder.

There is truth to how things used to operate, but Grand Aire / Tricoastal is a brand new company now, and anyone who used to work there does not know what is going on there now, because it is not the same at all as it was a year ago, six months ago, even 3 months ago.

Jamis81,

if that's true, I am happy for you.

But for that to be true, I think they would have had to get rid of the old CP, oui?

Shed some light on that for me please.

I certainly hope so. However, there's the old saying "A new broom sweeps the cleanest". The Ad-Hoc freight business is very competitive and cut-throat, and there is inherently enormous pressure to cut corners in order to get the trip and get it done to the customers' satisfaction. They need to be careful lest they fall into the old trap of expediency in order to survive.

Hi!

The old Chief Pilot died in a crash, about 9 months before the old owner did.

Obviously, they have new people running the company. It sounds like they're taking the right approach.

I hope they all fly safe from here on out.

If it's all a new company why don't they pick a name? Are they operating on two certificates or something?

Maybe Boxes R US?

Ex- Wacky Paki Express?
LOI Aire?
Fed Magnet Express?
Overgross Airways?
Tri-Fined Airways?
Grand Enforcement Aire?

Grand Aire is not flying as Grand Aire.... Grand Aire Inc, is the logistics side of the organization. It is the most well known side, because of the past.. but Grand Aire does not operate aircraft. Tricoastal Air, is the airline that is owned by Grand Aire Inc... much like Active Aero owns and operates USA Jet..

As far as the CP, he is still there, and was the one who made the decision that all the pilots will receive formal training outside of the company.. I don't know what the beef is with him that some people have, but he is the one who has been making the push to fly the aircraft safer. He works closely with the people who book the trips, who also call the pilots when quoting a trip to check to see how feasible it is for the aircraft. There is no longer the thought of force the pilots to get the trip done at any cost. The mentality is now, lets be safe and still get the trip done... safely....
