350DRIVER

A friend of mine recently relocated from HOU to LA and I am trying to help him secure some kind of 135 gig out in LA. Other than Clay Lacy which I think is all jet I am unsure of the other operators out in the LAX area who operate Turbo-props and light jets.

Anyone have any company names, contact information, advice that I can pass along to him?. He said he went to Santa Monica and had no luck and without internet access he seems to be in even more of a jam.

I do not have my nbaa info or any other directory that I have with me so I am of little or of no help to him right now.

any information would surely be appreciated.

thanks in advance

That is problem number 1. The CJ flying is out of the question since he does not have the TT nor an awful lot of multi-engine flight time. He is a Skywest employee at LAX and is just looking for some contract part 135 SIC work until he get's his TT and "experience" factor built up where he feels comfortable to interview with Skywest. The only good thing (in my opinion) going for him is that he went through the COEX program in conjunction with San Jacinto College in Houston but that obviously doesn't make up for no turbine time, etc.

I think he is just looking to find any operator in the area where he could be a contract sic. I am just not too well versed with the charter outfits there present day, outta the loop

Ameriflight?

Does he have at least the 135 PIC mins? If all he wants is some time and experience to go to Skywest, then why not try AMF?

350 driver,

If your buddy doesn't mind working for poverty wages I hear Express Jet?? (the COex regional) is hiring with pretty low mins.

Thanks folks for the responses....

I think he is stuck between a rock and a hard place since he is still around 200 hours TT short of 135 pic mins. He has already done the phone interview with ExpressJet but he was not invited down due to the fact that he has not yet been employed as a pilot for anyone yet and they suggested that he do that asap.

thanks again,
