How do I calculate a VDP?

height above touchdown (HAT)/300 will give a 3 degree glideslope (which also = 300 fpnm)

take GS/2 and add a zero to get fpm (120/2 = 60, add 0 = 600 fpm, which makes sense...2 nm/min at 300 fpnm, therefore you need to lose 600 fpm)

The underlying assumption is that you want a 3° descent.

VDP in NM = altitude to lose/300 (distance form the threshhold)
VDP in time = altitude to lose/10 (subtract from time in a timed approach)
