Just read a newsflash from my union that they are not CASS qualified on a temp basis. If this is an old thread I apologize.

Sadly, this is correct. McPickle will likely come on here and b!tch-slap me if I'm wrong, but my understadning is that CAL/XJT was granted an extension to the photo-CASS deadline due to the fact that not all stations can display photos at the gate. The extension expired 11/1, so no more CASS. I think we're all very, very sorry about it and hope it will get "fixed" ASAP.

unlimited cabin seats are offered but cockpit access is not available until the agents are trained on the new system.

that's my understanding of the scenario.

Also correct--I should have clarified. It's basically gone back to the pre-CASS setup: You can ride, just not up front.

According to flight ops it should be back up and running Mid November. I hope it gets fixed sooner rather then later.

Does that mean CAL guys are not authorized in offline cockpits now? Or vica versa.

Our CASS still allows us access to offline jumpseats. If other airlines reciprocate during this transition. Our system still sends our picture to other airlines that have screens that can see them. I see my ugly mug all the time on AA. As a commuter during this I will make sure any offline guys still gets a ride if there are seats available. Some gate agents may not get the CASS and seats in the back thing.

The previous post is correct. For two weeks starting in Nov. offline jumpseaters will not be allowed in the cockpit on CAL/XJT. The gate agents will be trained by the 3rd weeek in Nov. so things will be back to normal then. Hopefully other airlines employees will not act childish and take this out on CAL/XJT pilots for the two week transition management has caused.
