question about cal reserve. assuming one is on reserve in ewr. can that pilot pick up open time on reserve days and or off days?????

is there a min day, trip rig, duty rig at cal?

so if one is on reserve in ewr, what kind of credits are guys getting?

how about cle? reserve forever?

inquiring minds want to know

You can pick up opentime during aggressive pickup windows, it depends if you are "A" reserve or "B" reserve when those windows are. I was on A reserve this month and have flown every day of availability. They are really short this month, so I am getting a lot of work. Next month will be better because I'll be a lineholder! Not bad for being online for one month!

BTW this is in EWR.

Depends on the plane too. 777 reserves don't get used as often. I've been told to expect a call once a month, but that's nothing that I've actually verified. Enough people who were on the plane told me the same thing so I bid it.

I get called once a month too. Well, I mean by my Baby's Momma's Attorney....

Seriously though, reserve is great when they don't call you. Hope it stays that way.

There are two types of reserve at continental. A res or B res. A res pay is 71 or 72 hours while b res is 76 hours. You cannot pick up on days off. You can pick up on the days you are available, but only for the days your good for. For example you are good for 3 days you cannot pick up a 1 or 2 day trip. You can only pick up a 3 day trip. Reserve in EWR varies classes before me were on reserve 1 to 2 months while I was on reserve 7 months, now I've heard its back down again to about 2 to 3 months.

that is correct it depends on the the aircraft you are on. the above is for the 737. 75/76 is about 1 year and 777 a couple or more years of reserve.

Do they switch you from long reserve to short a lot?

Long call and short call are reserve lines that are separate from each other, although I have heard that some long calls were getting some days converted to short call by scheduling.
