CAL is better than SWA???

CAL was said in forbes to be the # 1 airline of chioce in the US, thats a joke!! this is a company who does not provide health care for pilots for the 1st 6 months of employment!!!!!!! So what happens if you take the job at CAL and have no health care coverage for 6 months and while on a lay over in Mexico City or some South America country, you get sick. Does CAL pick up the tap on the health care bill while your working? They want you to fly into countries where exposures to disease is very common and yet they dont want to provide you with health care!!!!!!!!! anyone want to offer an insight on why there is not health care coverage avialable from day one like every other job in the country????

Yes it is true but you can get a cobra like plan for 6 months. I don't agree with it either but this is only 6 months. Your career could be 30 + years and in my opinion is well worth it.

Don't forget "ALPA" agreed to this so I think you are pointing your fingers at the wrong people. If management can save a buck and ALPA lets them, well guess what, they will.........

If I get sick in Mexico my medical insurance will pay for it. I bought insurance for the first 6 months. In case you are curious my plan costs $200/month for the family and it was almost twice cheaper (very close to the same coverage) than COBRA from my last job.
Unfortunately Walmartization of America goes on.

Forbes doesn't give a rats arse about pilot pay and medical coverage. I have heard very good comments about the quality of service on CAL so they must be doing something right.

$200/mo? That's lower than the premiums at most company-sponsored plans.

He's probably the big man at some crash pad spouting off about why he'll never work at CAL. I got news for you, we don't want you. He probably says the same about SWA, "I'm not going to pay for a type rating, if they want me they will call." I bet there isn't a single airline going "If we just had that guy from flight info everything would be alright!"
