Why would Dassault/Falconjet do this? I think it is great but makes me wonder why...

CAE wins flight training contract for Falcon 7X

FARNBOROUGH, July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - (NYSE: CGT; TSX: CAE) CAEand Dassault Aviation have signed a contract making CAE the exclusive providerof entitlement training for the all-new, 5700 nm Falcon 7X, the first fly-by-wire business jet. Included in this agreement is entitlement training for pilots, maintenance personnel and cabin crew. Entitlement training is the initialtraining provided by the aircraft manufacturer with the purchase of theaircraft. CAE will develop two Falcon 7X full-flight simulators and a comprehensivetraining program that will incorporate CAE Simfinity(TM) technology. Inaddition, CAE will develop two Falcon 900 EX EASy/Falcon 2000 EX EASyconvertible full-flight simulators and associated training programs alsoincorporating CAE Simfinity technology. The programs will support training forthe EASy cockpits, with all four simulators being deployed in North Americaand Europe beginning in the fall of 2006. The simulators will be outfittedwith the CAE Tropos(TM) visual system. According to John Rosanvallon, president and chief executive officer forDassault Falcon Jet, "After a thorough selection process, we felt CAE offeredthe most competitive business and technical package related to the Falcon 7Xprogram. CAE's world-renowned technology and extensive experience indelivering training to the business aviation community will help us to ensurethe successful launch of this exciting new aircraft." "Becoming the exclusive provider of entitlement training for this new andinnovative aircraft is a strategic milestone for us," said Jeff Roberts, CAE'sgroup president for civil simulation and training. "The Dassault Falcon 7Xprogram extends our vast suite of training programs for business aircraftoperators and taps into our technology leadership and simulation experiencewith new aircraft types." The Falcon 7X is the first aircraft to be developed entirely in a virtualenvironment-from design to manufacturing to maintenance. It offers 20 per centmore cabin volume than the Falcon 900EX. This agreement builds on CAE's previous relationship with Dassault, whichincludes CAE SimuFlite's development of a training curriculum for maintenancetechnicians for the Falcon 50/50EX, 900/900EX and 2000/2000EX aircraft. Dassault Falcon has delivered over 1600 business jets since the firstFalcon 20 flew in 1963. Parent company, Dassault Aviation is a recognizedleader in aerospace having delivered over 7500 military and civilian aircraftsince 1945 (EUR 3.30 billion in sales; 11,950 employees), with a presence inmore than 70 countries across five continents. CAE is a leading provider of simulation technologies and integratedtraining services to airlines, aircraft manufacturers, defence forces, andmarine customers worldwide. The company has annual revenues in excess of C$1billion, with manufacturing operations and training facilities in 19 countrieson five continents.

Why would they do what? Build a new airplane or award the training to SimuFlite?

when all the companies with multiple 7Xs on order say they have a contract strictly with FSI I bet the tune changes...

If entitlement training for new purchases is awarded solely to Simuflite then there will not be much choice in which provider will be used, or where the contract for the first year will reside.

Seems to be nothing more than a change in historical roles between the two training providers. FSI has historically gotten the initial development contracts and entitlement training agreements, and Simuflite was left to develop sims and training then pick up reccurrent training down the road, and later initial training. A perfect example is the S-76C+ they built a year or so ago.

I have attended both schoolhouses and could care less which I attend. Good training and a fair checkride are my only expectations. The food on site at Simuflite is a nice benefit though.

As to the question "why?" I would think simple business. CAE goes to Dassault and says "we'd like to be the sole provider of initial trainng on the 7X"

Falcon: But we've always used Flight Safety.

CAE: We know, but if you let us do it we'll give you ___________ .

Falcon: (On the phone with Flight Safety) CAE is going to give us ___________ if we go with them for the 7X. Can you beat that?

Flight Safety: We can't beat THAT, but were willing to do ____________.

Falcon: Sorry, not good enough.

Falcon: (On the phone with CAE) Welcome as our new exclusive training provider for the 7X !

Looks like a business deal in it's purest form. Dassault will get more out of CAE than they would have with Flight Safety. It's not that big of a stretch to see Dassault choosing a Canadian company over an American one.

Just so long as I dont have to go to F'n texas for training, I dont care....
I bet FSI TEB gets one before the 20th a/c is produced - TEB may be a craphole but at least you can get good food..

Texas:

"can you tell me where there is a good deli?"...."subway down the road"

"can you tell me where there is a good Italian rest?"...."Olive garden over there"

steakhouse? ...7 Outbacks and 3 Traildusts to choose from (puke)

biatch,biatch,biatch.....

I think I would take Dallas over Teterboro any day of the week... Plus the Simuflite facility in Dallas is really nice. Alot nicer than FSI in Teterboro...

who cares what the facility is like?? a sim is a sim...

I want good food and dancing girls. less than 30 mins to manhatten....

In Dallas people eat in strip malls, and on top of that they wait outside for an hour with a flashing beeper to get a table at a chain garbage restaurant..... Its just F'n weird, man.

;) :D

I agree if you stick to chain resturants, however there are three ( 2 really good, 1 ok) brazilian steak joints, one right by DFW, not more than a 5-7 min drive from the school house.

Grapevine has a number of non-chain resturants right there and many more the closer you go towards Addison or downtown.

It is not Manhattan, but overall I would take Dallas and Grapevine for a long training stay over the northeast.

Plus, next to ATL I think Texas really goes overboard on the dancing girls, and the establishments they work in....IMHO

Otter,

What's the name of the Brazillian joint, and where is it? I'll be there Thursday through Monday for recurrent.

Thanks!

ah yes, I have been to the brazilian chain joint, really not too bad...

Im just down on Dallas, too many intitals there - including two in one year...and its not my home area...thats all. ALl the trips and the FINE service on American Airlines just sealed 3 long weeks in Dallas.

meat on a big stick, gotta love it!! although TEB has one also now over in Hackensack (a fine town)

I agree with Boi Na Braza. Another great place for a chunk of meat is 3 Forks. Upscale dining, 900 wine selections and first rate humidor. It's expensive but the food is top notch. Try the bone in ribeye or the veal rib chop. MMMMMMMM. It's a bit of a drive so I usually save it for the last day.

Falcon Capt beat me to it, Boi Na Braza is the best and right by Simuflite (relatively). Silver Fox steak house is in Grapevine and is owned and run by the same people as three forks. For mexican try Esparazas, known for their margaritas.

I'll have to agree about 3 Forks.... It's one the top 5 rated steak houses in the country... It's off of the north toll way. You also have the choice of Del Friscos, and Smith & Wolinski's (sp?) They are all right there together...

To answer the question as to why CAE for the 7X, I have been told that CAE has more experience with developing training programs for fly by wire aircraft. Having been a long time FSI client, recently I attended Simuflite for the first time and was surprised at the increased level of professionalism over FSI. Yeah, a sim is a sim, however, having attended 4 different FSI facilities over the years it is nice to work with instructors who love who they work for in addition attending a modern facility. The training costs of 1/3 less than FSI are great perk too.

As far as Dallas being the training center for the 7X, I also heard that CAE will be building a new facility on the east coast for this program and others.
