Does anyone have any idea roughly the insurance mins on a C90? Would 2000TT/500ME and 30 in the plane do the trick?

Also what would be a salary to expect as a C90 Captain on call 24/7? Low 30's?

Do you mean open pilot minimums? For our insurance company its 2000TT, and 50 in a King Air for both the C90 and A100. As far as specific pilots go, you could be a named insured on the certificate. I have a part time job flying a Turbo Commander, they got me on their insurance with sim training and 25 hours in the airplane with no increase in premium. I had just under 1400 hours at the time.

my experience awhile back was 2000total 500multi with 25 in the aircraft...and we were paid 36-40k depending on ratings held and past experience.

hmmm...i missed the on call 24/7 part, but that would definately require additional compensation. our schedule was known months ahead of time ;)

Many departments can "massage" the insurance mins. to an extent. Low 30's? I would think that is on the very low end.

I made King Air/C421 captain at relatively very low flight time considering they wanted 3000TT and a substantial amount in make and model.

You can get away with it and some carriers will just list you as a "risk" until you hit a certain amount of hours.

good luck,

Bottom line:

If somebody likes you enough to pay higher premiums, there are no minimums. The real trick in this industry is how to get people to like you.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I shouldn't have really said on call 24/7. Most trips are known days in advance but they expect you take all trips. About every month they have a trip pop up that has about 2 hours notice. Other than that, its all at least 24 hour notice.

You guys confirmed what I thought about the insurance. As for the pay, once I get an idea of what the industry average is, hopefully I can negotiate something higher.

Thanks.

My last job flying a 200 and C90 paid $50K a year, plus expenses, with 12 scheduled days off a month.
