Curious if anyone out there has taken a Citation V over to Reykjavik from Goose Bay before. Looks like about 1340NM and depending what the Boeing Winds say I'm guessing a modest tailwind to put it in the 3:30 range. It will be in late fall/early winter. Anyway, just thought I would see if anyone else had done this before without stopping in Narsarsuaq. Thanks.

I would feel comfortable doing the trip to Kef... or Reyk but the issue is that you will not have the fuel to get back to BGSF(715NM) or BGBW(649NM). You have an alternate right there in town in the event that you have a problem with the runway... but I would not launch out of Goose unless the weather in Iceland is forcast to be good... as there is really just not enough fuel to do the alternate flight back to Greenland. A closer alternate and keeps the wind at your back is EGPO or Stornoway in Scottland only 586NM...

The real issue could be the flight back... against the wind and the higer temps....

Don't forget about the drift down sched if you lose press or bang an engine.

LB gives good advice. Iceland does not have many alternates. We can make it from the west coast (2000EX) however, we do not have the fuel to go to Scotland or back to Greenland so we do not use it unless the WX is going to be VFR.

So in otherwords we have only used it once as a tech stop to Europe. On the other hand we use it all the time on the way home as we have lots of landing points we can use short if we needed too.
