For you C-17 drivers out there:

I saw one going into Hill this morning. Turning downwind to base it looked like it was standing still. What approach speeds do you use when doing a max performance landing? and how short can you stop the thing?

It's kind of "dumpy" looking on the ground, but pretty cool looking in flight!

How does it handle?

Not a C-17 pilot, but I flew jumpseat on one, one time that was military use. Lets say I got lucky. The VREF if I recall was about 120. A loaded C-17 can land in 2,500 feet, backup using its reversers and takeoff again in 2,500 feet. Its quite a ride, to take off in one, (very high acceleration) and a very interesting cockpit, with beds and all behind them. The pilots fly the a/c with sticks between their legs like a cub, its wierd. (no side-stick or yoke)
