Does anyone have any information on what to expect as far as length of time to be on a typical TDY with a Reserve C-5 unit?

Wow, that seems like a run-on sentence.

I flew the C5 active duty from Dover AFB (94-99) and was always very jealous of the reserve trips. The reserves honored the SRT (scheduled return time), while for the active duty the SRT meant very little. So, the length of your TDY depends on the types of trips that your unit is able to obtain; and usually the reserves allow you to pick and choose which trips are best for you. However, since most of the reserve units are probably full of furloughed pilots from the majors, your ability to be selective is probably greatly diminished. Also, if your unit has been activated, then you are the same as active duty. The average trips ran anywhere from three days to two weeks; although I flew one 30-day mission. Like the previous reply, you may think you are going on a 4-day trip, and invariably you can add several more days due to maintenance and TACC (command and control).
