C-130's in CLT ??

Orage numbers may indicate that they are used for firefighting. What else was painted on the tail?
 
Orage numbers may indicate that they are used for firefighting. What else was painted on the tail?

Firefighting - yeah we were thinking that. Its just a large single digit number like 3 or 5 painted in bright orange like the kind you see on hunting clothing. Also it doesn't look to be perminant like the black lettering code such as the state ltters like NC.
 
Probably the Air Force Reserve C-130s out of Colorado Springs or perhaps Cheyenne. Usually Air Force C-130s have something painted on the tail to identify the base of assignment.
 
Actually, the numbers are for racing. With CLT's proximity to Charolette Motor Speedway, the CLT C-130's race every Sunday. They're still waiting for C-130 racing to catch on before they pursue sponsorship.
