I was wondering if anybody could tell me what C-130 flight engineer training pipeline is like. I was wondering where is the training, how long is it, and how many portions are there. I appreciate it in advance.

Go to baseops.net

If you are USAF it is in Little Rock

Be advised...FE are about to be a thing of the past with the new C-130 J.

NO MORE FE's! No More Navs!

The Navy Reserve needs C130 FEs and tons of them. You could do it part-time (difficult) or full-time. If you have experience in Hercs you'll be a shoe-in...the community is growing.

Flying for the Navy Reserve is the best deal in the military. Believe that.

Don't know about C-130 FE training, but I am sure it is similar to P-3 FE training. I hear it's not too bad. The class that everyone seems to like the most is "How to act like a d!ck to the pilots". The other class that scores high is "You've put up with crap from officers for long enough, here is your chance to make their lives miserable".

I kid, I kid (kinda).

Just curious, with CRJ time, why go to an FE seat on the C-130 when you could actually fly one? What is so interesting about sitting side-saddle in a C-130 vs. actually flying one?

Good luck.

I do not know what planet you are from...but you do not sit side saddle as an FE in the C-130. The seat is right behind the pilot and co-pilot, like a stage coach driver guiding the two jack asses in front of you!

Probably the same planet you are from....the "classic" C130's will be around a long time and therefore need FE's. They are HARDLY "about" to be gone....they will be around a LONG time.

FE training in the AF is about 6-7 months from start to finish....

NO MORE FE's! No More Navs!

They've been saying that for about 25 years now...
