We speak with journalist Yvonne Ridley who reported in last weekend's Sunday Express that Saddam Hussein was actually captured by Kurdish forces who then drugged him and abandoned him for U.S. troops to find after brokering a deal. In 2001, Ridley was imprisoned for 10 days by the Taliban while on assignment in Afghanistan.

On December 15th, the head of the U.S. occupation in Iraq, Paul Bremer, held an early morning press conference. His first words were "Ladies and Gentlemen, we got him." This was how millions of people around the world learned of the capture of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

U.S. forces said they captured Saddam at about 8:30 Saturday night Iraq time after members of his extended family tipped off interrogators as to his whereabouts.

A week after Bremer's announcement, a different account of Saddam's capture has emerged.

An article in last weekend's British Sunday Express, says "The full story of the fallen dictator's capture last Saturday in a "spider hole" near his birthplace of Tikrit exposes the version peddled by American spin doctors as incomplete."

According to the Sunday Express, Saddam was actually captured by Kurdish forces who then drugged him and abandoned him for U.S. troops to find after brokering a deal. The article quotes unnamed British and Iraqi military intelligence officers.

The Express also reports that secret talks are underway to sentence Saddam to life imprisonment in Qatar after a "showcase trial."

Yeah, that isn't a biased site or anything. They would have you believe that Bush to blame for everything from that stain in your shirt to sunspots. The source alone is reason enough to ignore the story, considering all the crap they spew on a regular basis.

Hi!

Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't know this was old news. I saw the news from the major news outlets just like everyone else-that US troops had captured Saddam. I didn't know it was a sham, public-relations ploy.

This is just like the “Rescue” of Jessica. The Iraqis at the hospital had tried to turn her over to the US troops several days before. She wasn’t rescued, it was all staged to look good for the American people.

And if U think the site was biased, well, they all are. I appreciate some news from a different angle other than the typical Fox/CNN/Time/Newsweek/Bush press releases-they’re all the same.

I like to see a variety of reports on stuff, not just the one propagandized version that is reported to the American public.

I hope you had a great New Years!

Lets see now!
She converted to Islam, says the CIA wanted her killed, was a reporter for Al Jazeera, she tryed to get an American soldier court martialed for frisking a 4 year old in Afghanistan, she is outspoken about conditions at Gitmo, she claims that the body bags of American troops are pileing up and the American people aren't being told of the real casualties, claims that the CIA walked into a British hospital and killed a would-be-terrorist. There's more I'm sure.
She is anti-American, and I would be suspect of any of her reporting. She justs wants attention with another one of her sensational bogus stories.
She's been canned by atleast 2 media outlets in the last 2 years.

Not only that, but jets are spraying chemicals on the American people in a grid pattern to help Bush fool the people so that Texas can start another war and divert our attention from the leadership ideas of Howard Dean and Ralph Nader who only want a helpful and progressive international government so that children are not being hugged by nuclear arms allowing us to question authority because war is not the answer and is harmful to children and other living things who should not be engaging in colonial occupations of governments for the exploitation of natural resources and the oppression of people living collectively in the third world.

Power to the people. Right on.

Does anyone think for even ONE moment that if the Kurds had caught SH he would be alive today? After what he did to them over the years they would have wanted this reward dead rather than alive .
