My observations:
1. The pilots was wrong for doing something so stupid. I question his maturity to be a captain. As a representative of American Airlines, he should be censured, with the blessing of the APA. If it were me, the Brazilian government can take as much time as they want. Of course, the next day, I'll probably be too fatigued to fly the aircraft out. American Airlines and the U.S. government won't care about what the Brazilians do until it starts costing someone money.
2. The Brazilian government is being immature and childish for going to such extremes in making it difficult to enter, for no good reason. It's merely an example of a lame, stupid and corrupt 3rd world government trying to puff it's chest out.
3. As far as I'm concerned, if Brazilians cannot stand the 1 minute longer it takes to clear customs and immigration here in the U.S. due to a real and present danger of terrorism, they should go to Europe on vacation. The shame is that it's not the Brazilians themselves . . . . . it's their pathetic knuckleheaded government.
And yes . . . . I've been to Brazil many times . . . on duty, but zero desire to go there as a tourist.
