JetBlue Plans Boston Premiere of New Planes, More Legroom, Low Fares and 24 Channels of Free Inflight Satellite TV

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 2003--

-- Low-fare Carrier Will Serve Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, FL and Denver, CO from Logan International Airport Starting January 2004 --

JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ:JBLU) is about to introduce Boston travelers to a different kind of low-fare airline -- with new planes, up to 24 channels of DIRECTV programming free at every comfy leather seat, and more legroom than other airlines -- when the carrier inaugurates service from Boston's Logan International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa, FL and Denver, CO, in the new year.

By January 16, JetBlue plans to offer from Logan International three daily flights to Orlando, two daily flights to Tampa, and one daily flight each to Fort Lauderdale and Denver. Specifically, the airline will launch daily service to Orlando, Tampa and Denver starting January 7, with service to Orlando and Tampa expanding to twice daily on January 8. Starting January 16, JetBlue will increase its service between Boston and Orlando to three times daily and add a new daily flight between Boston and Fort Lauderdale.

JetBlue is offering an introductory sale fare between Boston and all three Florida cities of $79 (a) each way and between Boston and Denver of $99 (a) each way, when booked at JetBlue's website, www.jetblue.com. Sale fares require a seven-day advance purchase and are valid for travel through February 10, 2004. For an additional $5 each way, these sale fares can also be booked by calling 1-800-JETBLUE. Seats are limited and customers are encouraged to book early.

The airline's regular fares between Boston and Florida will range from $94 (a) to $224 (a) each way and between Boston and Denver from $115 (a) to $244 (a) each way if booked via www.jetblue.com. For an additional $5 each way, these regular fares can also be booked by calling 1-800-JETBLUE.

"Low fare doesn't have to be no-frills anymore," said David Neeleman, CEO of JetBlue Airways. "In the new year, JetBlue will liberate Bostonians from high fares and offer a unique travel experience with new planes with 34 inch seat pitch for most seats, free inflight satellite TV, and award-winning friendly service. We don't charge for snacks either - and you can have as many as you like."

"I welcome JetBlue to Boston and congratulate them on their decision to expand their first-rate service to Logan Airport," said Mitt Romney, Governor of Massachusetts. "JetBlue's entry into Boston means more local jobs, more economic activity for our state and more low-fare flying choices for Bay Staters."

"It is a special pleasure for Massport to welcome JetBlue, an airline that has made innovation, outstanding customer service and high value for the customer dollar their core principles," said Massport CEO Craig Coy. "JetBlue is a perfect fit for Logan Airport and will provide local travelers with more choices, more low-fares and more reason to choose Logan for their travel plans."

Finally! We're looking forward to having JetBlue in Boston.

I am sure Song will provide them with some good competition. Hopefully by then Song will have those Video units installed. The Florida routes seemed natural, but the Denver one surprised me. Very interesting......

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:

No, I just didn't see that one coming. I am sure Jetblue can figure out how to fill atleast one airbus a day to DEN. The only competition they will have now is United. I don't know why Frontier couldn't keep that route profitable.

No one saw that here at JBU either General. It was quite a surprise. The rumor mills have just been about BOS and MCO. Anyway, we'll see how it plays out. We have had a JFK-DEN redeye for a while that has been doing great.

Take Care.

BOS-DEN doesn't seem that surprising when you think about the number of skiers in the Boston area. Probably over 100,000, who knows how many if you also include NH, RI and Southern ME. That's a good winter base in case the snow doesn't fall in the New Hampshire and Vermont mountains in amounts that make skiers happy.

Mr. I.

I don't know why Frontier couldn't keep that route profitable.

Gate construction, USAirways ground handling, and Spirit. We had great loads, but the yield was too low. We used the resources elsewhere to better advantage.

I hope that we head back to BOS soon. I loved the overnights!

Jetblue320,

I also figured that Jetblue would eventually turn up the heat on Song and other airlines and their routes up and down the east coast. Jetblue will also probably fly from BDL to FLA, and more from IAD than to just FLL. It is inevitable. I just hope we can put some of those TVs into our Song birds (I believe they were supposed to be installed in the new Song 757s starting in OCT---tomorrow), which will help to retain passengers. The DEN run from BOS surprised me because I knew that F9 did drop that route. I guess Jetblue will eventually try BOS--SLC (for better quality snow--according to my Skywest friends...), and then IAD DEN/SLC, etc....I am really curious to find out where all of the EMB-190s will go----probably unlimited possibilities---but I think Delta and DCI, and the other carriers, will put up a good fight.

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:

Being a New Englander and seeing cheep flights from BOS to DEN, that flight do all right. We love to ski in the North East, but Western skiing cannot be beat... (ahh yes powder) Having a direct flight also garentees (hopefully) that your skis' will arrive with you in DEN. And for that cost round trip, you have more money to spend for an extra night. I'll be booking a reservation for some skiing this winter:cool:

I was just in BOS this afternoon, taxing out to go back to SYR going to 33L I saw JB takeoff from 27. I guess it was up there for a proving run or promotional stuff.

It was the latter. Promo with the Governor or Mayor or something. I don't believe a proving run will be necessary.
