Anyone heard that the TSA folks have found a new way to stick it to us?

My understanding is that within the next three weeks we (crewmembers) will be required to have a borading pass to get through security unless we are actually going to be at the controls on the particular flight we are headed to.

So, If you are on a Dead Head or just trying to commute, you'll have to stand in line at the ticket counter to get a boarding pass.

It just keeps getting better doesn't it???

AVL tried this sh.it with me. I was rushing to catch a flight (almost 2 hour delay in getting to airport due to a wreck). I ran to catch the plane, then some TSA bi.tch stopped me and said "you need a boarding pass, sir." I told him I'm crew and don't need jack. He insisted and I requested his supervisor who said simply--"he doesn't need a boarding pass," and let me through.

IF we have to wait in line for a pass, this will REALLY suck in airports that don't have the kiosks.

What the he.ll, does having a boarding pass make the airport more secure? What gives with these power tripping a.ssholes anyway.......

Right now the whole boarding pass thing is on an airport to airport basis. But I havent heard anything official. I think they said last year that everyone was going to need a boarding pass to non-rev except direct employees. So your wife/mom and dad/kids/whoever needs one, but you dont. Some of the TSA people aren't so intelligent (i didnt want to be to mean) and dont know that, but if you grab a supervisor you can usually get through. Employees of airlines are exempt from selectee status so there is no reason for anyone to be a selectee therefore eleminating the need for a boarding pass. Now if your going through an airport where your airline doesnt fly you may run into an issue. Once again though, if you grab a supervisor and explain the situation to them they may be uncool and make you get a boarding pass, but they usually will let you through. It all really depends on the airport though.

With that said. Best of luck!

Ahhh Sh*t. Nevermind, they don't know if I'm not working the flight even if I'm in a competitors uniform. My response to them when they challenge me. ''I'm working the flight, where's your pass, i don't need one I"M WORKING IT!, well how do I know that, I dunno how do you......Forget it just go. Thanks.

It's true

According to our jumpseating committee chairman, the CAPPS II or Computer Assisted Passenger Profiling System-Generation two, is what is driving this new directive. CAPPS II is what determines who gets frisked and who doesn't in going through security. We need to have a boarding pass to determine if we get frisked or not. It even gets worse: If you're deadheading, you have to get a boarding pass, too. No exceptions.

My suggestion: Frisk us all. Only takes a minute, and it beats standing in line for 30-60 minutes at the ticket counter.

In ERI yesterday the TSA lady said, "Do you have a boarding pass?" I did have one because the ticket counter checked me in for my deadhead, but not wanting to play that game with her I said, "No, I don't." She let me through anyway.

Thousands Standing Around

Remember all the TSA did was hire the same people that did screening before and give them raises, a government pension, and the perception that they have more power.
