==> ATTENTION PILOTS <==
FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS EXPECTED OVER NASHVILLE ON MONDAY
AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near middle Tennessee
that the FAA will be issuing a notam restricting flight in the Nashville
area Monday afternoon and evening.
President Bush is scheduled to visit two sites in Nashville, apparently
speaking at a location in East Nashville sometime Monday afternoon before
attending a reception at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel that begins at 5:30 p.m.
Based on previous presidential travel, AOPA anticipates the notam to establish
a 30-nautical-mile-radius temporary flight restriction (TFR) limiting general
aviation flight; within that TFR, expect several 10-nm-radius areas in which
GA flight will be prohibited during specific periods.
AOPA denounced the FAA's late release of the notam establishing the
Nashville TFR, which had not been issued as of 3:30 p.m. local time Friday.
This morning's "The Tennessean" newspaper contained an article that offers
more information about Bush's visit than the FAA has released so far.
AOPA will post the notam establishing the Nashville TFR on AOPA Online
( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html ) as soon as possible after it
is issued. AOPA recommends that any pilot planning to fly in the Nashville
area on Monday check the notam carefully.
