Hi all - I posted here since many of you carry the Blackberry. If I recall the original Blackberry was able to send and receive messages and surf the web while airborne. Do the new Blackberry's still do this? I'm waiting until Sprint offers the new Curve next week. Looks like a great phone. Thanks for the input in advance!!

The new ones we have don't work airborne. Sometimes, you might get a signal down low if you left the antenna on, but generally they are Tango Uniform in flight.

Thanks GSD that was my guess....Oh well. See MP lately? I never see him, but then again I'm always working :(

I don't associate with those IV people anymore......

Seriously, haven't run across him lately but I hear he's doin' alright.

Ahhhhh.....A big G-V driver now eh???? Or is it G-550???? Any 650's on order? Looks like a nice new jet. :)

This thread reminds me of something I learned awhile back that I found useful. You might already know this but;

did you know that you can hide all those icons on the blackberry desktop that you don't use? While looking at the desktop / home screen push the alt button and the trackwheel at the same time. You can move the icons to better organize them and also select which ones to hide. If later you want to see the hidden icons you can also select "show hidden" and they all pop back up until you deselect show hidden.

Like I said, you might have already known this but I thought I'd share anyway.

Fly safe.

Thanks! I didn't know that and it works on the 8830 world edition. Cheers!

Hi!

I figured that icon thing out, but it is a GREAT suggestion. Who needs more clutter? And, organizing your icons makes it easier.

I put the ones I use most first, and put the Power Off icon last, so I can just spin the wheel all the way and click, and it's going off (obviously, I have an older BB-handed down from my personal CEO).

I was very dissapointed to find out upon getting my shiny new blackberry that the PTB disabled texting. I guess I understand why though, since any NJ pilot can "text" another through email and it is pretty much the same thing. Keeps 3300 pilots from texting mom and dad and little sis and choking the crap out of the network. Oh well.
