Looking for any information regarding Big Sky airlines. QOL, pilot bases, benifits, reserve time, etc. Also if lines are commutable from the Southern California area. Thanks for any help.

Any current or ex Big Sky pilots with any information would be greatly appreciated. I just don't have much info to go on and trying to make a wise decision for myself and family. Thanks again.

If your serious, then you should look a little deeper than just your commute. Big Sky is going to be in the middle of the Mesaba bankruptsy soon, and I wouldn't think it would be a stable decision at this time. You might want to wait a while and see how this court thing works out before you give up your current job. Best of luck with your decision.

Big Scare Airlines

I worked there for 3 years. Loved the flying and the people. Management sucked. Planes were scary (Metro's)but fun once you figured them out, never flew the 1900. QOL better than Mesa but still a crappy commuter. Bottom line, a good place to learn what it's like at the bottom. You will learn how to fly however. Glad I did it but wouldn't go back. Btw Billings is a bitch of a commute.

Big Sky is hiring into there new Boise ID base, so don't get to excited about the Montana talk. I don't think they have many commuters. There not in the CASS system, and they are an independnt airline = no priorty on any carriers.

I have friends out there and life seems good. Small pilot group 10 1900's, with no auto pilot, and 60 some pilots total. 1.5-2 yr upgrade.

You should do a search there have been a couple of BS ? in the last few weeks.

If you want to fly a 1900, get quick up grade, and 1 leg commute to west coast try Great Lakes. More planes and more pilot movement. Denver and Phoenix bases.

My time at Big Sky was great, but I was single and didn't commute. Upgraded quick then check airman. By year 2 was making over $50K a year which in Montana was a good living. In Billings I was making more than a computer programer as opposed to flying for Horizon making $70,000 trying to live around Seattle with every one else making 100K+. After the Mesaba purchase all the bean counters came in. Went from 16-17 days off a month to 10. If you're married and need to commute I wouldn't recomend it. I'd want QOL and stability. Big Sky does'nt offer either. Look at Horizon and Skywest. The upgrade time may suck, but now a days no ones going anywhere fast. Best of luck.

Yeah yeah

To DR, former BSA Pilot:
You know nothing about BSA today so keep your negative comments behind. From what I hear they are doing just fine. And how much stick time in them jet trainers? Oh sorry! You just pushed the trigger for the camera shutter.

To JG THE 3rd, former BSA something:
I am sorry your time there was so miserable. Hope HP is everytihng you wished for, including braggings rights. Get over yourself!
Now that you fly with us in the big league you appear to be quite the expert.

Wow, lets see, you're too chicken to let me know who you are. So much so that you created a different id. Most of the guys and gals at Big Sky were cool. HMMMM Only a couple d!ckless weasels. OOHHH I'd say you're one of three.

Go home GQ

Well If you read my post again, I belive my comments about the people, you being one of them is quite positive. My negative comments would apply to any commuter, my current employer included. You are obviously much more educated than I am since you sound like your flying something a bit bigger than I am but who can tell since you are too chicken ******************** to provide any info on yourself. Any body who knows me could figure out who I am by my profile. If you want to see my logged tome in the trainers, come on by I'll show you, along with the photos I had published while flying in the back seat. Again no secret to anybody who knows me. By the way why did you leave if it was so ********************ing great???

I'm with my bud HP, your a Dickless weasel.

And you are correct I have been gone for two years, a lot can change.

You might want to take an English course at your "Big Bend Community College" to brush up on your grammar skills, Mr. Othello.

A noble Moor with an education you seem to be not, sire.
