Guys,

I know that this may have already been done too death.... so someone might be able to help.

What is the most effective way to find out where the best deals on purchasing Jet A1 can be found.

I mean - we are a part 91 operator - so what is the best way to pay - Universal card - Amex card etc.

We usually purchase about 4000-5000 Gal each time [21,000lb tanks].

I,ve used airnav.com to get fuel prices at times but there is alot of other fuel companys that offer great prices. Companies such a Phoenix fuel, Colt , Phillips Into-plane. World fuel , Universal , Mariah Fuel . I,ve paid as little as 1.29 a gallon at dfw..Pays to do research

Oh I almost forgot some. Avcard. Multi-service and last but not least the good old pump and run is the cheapist. good luck

We have found great fuel prices with CAA, AvFuel and Western Petroleum. For example, a month ago in LAS, Executive was charging $4.20/g. Through Western we got it for $2.76.

There is a "membership" fee with CAA but we paid for it in one trip saving on handling charges going to Europe. I haven't calculated the total savings in a while, but one month last year was several thousand.

We don't use COLT, but I have heard good things about them as well. If I were you I'd look at the FBO's you use the most and find out what, if any, contract fueling programs they use and go from there.

2000 flyer,

Thanks for your information.

We are pretty new to operating in the US and don't know much about this type of thing.

What is CAA and how can I find out about them?

We mainly operate from New Zealand and Australia into Maui [PHOG] and KLAX and sometimes KLAS.

For example: in Auckland New Zealand there is only one fuel supplier but they have very competitive rates.

Thanks

Most FBO's have courtesy fueling after around 11pm or whenever the tower closes. They usually leave a key to the fuel truck in the sun visor or under the floor mat. Airnav is a good source for FBO's operational hours. Just find the one along your route that closes earliest and help yourself. It is an American Custom. Enjoy your stay(s) and Happy Fueling!
