Who is the best guy to go to in Cancun? I heard Manny Aviation was good, any inputs from the regulars south of the border would be appreciated. Thanks

Jet...
We just got back from Puerto Vallarta and used the services provided by the FBO. I was a bit sceptical since I've always used handlers on all of my previous trips to Mexico. It went off without a hitch and we saved a ton on handler's fees. Everything was waiting for us upon our arrival and our passengers were in the van on their way to the hotel within 10 minutes of our arrival on the ramp. On the way out, they had everyone pre-cleared with customs and immigration. We simply gathered up all of their tourist cards and in 5 minutes we were starting engines. It was totally painless.

We were able to pay all of our fees and fuel with a credit card. There's not a lot of need to carry a bunch of cash - just enough for some appropriate "propinas". Whenever possible, it will be the way that I'll handle our trips to Mexico in the future.

There's supposedly a full service FBO in Cancun. I'd give them a call and see if they offer the same type of service. I'd imagine they do.

I agree with Lead Sled, I am in Cabo right now for the second time this month and 3rd time this year as well as having been to Puerto Vallarta. I do everything on my own now, I think it is absurd that you pay a handler $300 or more plus administrative fees to fill out some paperwork.
I have the annual permit for operating in Mexico so this trip to Cabo will cost us about $100 in tips plus the normal airport fees and parking for 7 days, around a $1000. My first trip here using a handler cost around $1800.
A good friend of mine just did Cancun on his own, just called the fbo and they took care of him.
Have fun!

SabreFlyR- Puerto Vallarta is easy without a handler because the FBO is very helpful. I'm not comfortable, yet, doing Cabo on my own. Could you walk me through your procedure down there? Did you just show up with your GenDec and immigration forms filled out and hand them to the proper authorities? I would love to skip the handler next time we're @ MMSD.

I'd also like to hear any tips anyone has for Cancun.

Thanks.

We just used the ICCS FBO, friendly and fast.... 24 hrs before arrival we faxed all of the paper work that they needed and upon arrival they were waiting for us. Bring you own prist however, and if you have an overnight take your nosewheel pin(if applicable) with you. There have been a few stolen in the past, and the FBO will try to sell you one at an inflated price.

Just call ICCS and set up your arrival, they will tell you what to fax and what info they need.

Cancun IS Okay

I have been to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. I have never used a handler other then the FBO services. I have found all three to be reasonably easy. Cabo usually costs the most. Cancun's FBO has someone that will walk you through the process. You can email them for transportation requests etc. Save your money.

Thanks alot for the Cancun info. I recently did Montego Bay, Jamaica without a handler and it was painless with a little help from the FBO.
