What is the best book to prepare for an interview? Im trying to find a book to prepare myself for technical questions. I already have the FAR-AIM but I want something more fun to read.

'Airline Pilot Technical Interview' by McElroy is good. Well organized and easy to read.

Stay with the technical books. I bought one of the non-tech books about how to prepare for an airline interview, it was a total waste of money. Common sense stuff, like don't pick your nose during the interview, and remember to tie your shoes. No freaking kidding.

'Airline Pilot Technical Interview' is in the mail. Im more worry about those "basic" interview questions than anything else.

I second "Airline Pilot Technical Interviews." It covers a lot of stuff and is interesting to read. He refers you to certain part of the AIM for more details.

Also, you can't go wrong studying the ATP written.

studying

i have used the FAR-AIM, the atp written (i ripped out the info section in the front of the chapters and highlighted that) same, but to a lesser extent for the FE written book depending on the company, aviation interviews gouge, and the current airplane or airline opps manual.. this stuff should cover 99% of your bases.

IMO, the best book for interview prep is Airline Pilot Interviews, by Irv Jasinski -- kinda feel like a broken record on this, cause I've posted it several times, but the book lists all kinds of situational questions. Great advice too -- and, you can buy it through Amazon.com -- can't remember much about the bias toward tech or HR, but it was still worth the money.

Airline Pilot Interviews: How You Can Succeed in Getting Hired is a terrific book! An absolute must-read.

Another excellent book is the The Airline Career and Interview Manual by Captain Bob Norris.

Neither book is technically-oriented, but both offer excellent overall interview advice.

Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual by Greg Brown & Mark Holt is excellent.
Also, Air Inc. publishes a book called Airline Pilot's Test Guide which has many sample tests from specific airlines including mechanical apptitude tests which are given by airlines.

Other than those, study Jepp charts & legends; know em cold, along with airspace etc. And know the systems of the most complex a/c you've flown.

Good luck....we're all counting on you!

Thank you guys for all the info. Im still waiting for an interview invitation. I cant afford to fail a technical part of the interview because I wasnt prepared. Im keeping my finger crossed.

Tip to those folks looking for advice: get it from someone that actually got hired.

If you don't have any turbine experience I second the recommendation for "The Turbine Pilot Flight Manual" by Holt & Brown.
